I thought there car was ok on slower circuits? Silverstone was the one that they were worried about and they seem to have sorted the car. Being 0.6 faster than a Redbull around Silverstone in qualifying and over a second quicker than a Ferrari tells me that we now have a Championship with 11 races to go.Have Mercedes sorted their car out at slower circuits now?

Not with regards to his blow out but with regards to the gap he had after 7 laps over Vettel and the fact that he did one stop less than Alonso but finished only 0.5 seconds behind him with Alonso being on the faster tyre. I personally think they have sorted there tyre problem which is great news for the rest of the season.Edited by Wanta996Gotta on Monday 1st July 14:48

After the FP sessions LH was literally jumping for joy with his comments and I think he went there with much lower expectations.
I definitely think LH could do a 'Alonso 2012' this season if he kept his cool and not get over ambitious though it doesn't look like the car was as bad as the Ferrari initially.

Up until now, Lewis has kept within two race wins of Seb (would have been much closer without that wretched tyre blowout!). Now they know they've got a car that can go head-to-head with the RBs both in Quali and the Race, just got to pile on the wins!
Tough luck for Lewis though, he's got a team mate who can potentially take a lot of points off him, although that can be a good thing like in the British GP where Nico was pushing Seb all the way, whereas if he was languishing at P9 or 10 scrapping for the points (like the Massa of '12), Seb would have cruised to victory and extended his lead!
I'm looking forward to Germany to see if Mercs have really sorted their tyre issues, and if LH is now happy in the car, after being generally quite miserable for most of the season.
The Mercs both looked very good at Silverstone - and from the start of Q1 were saving their hard tyres, planning for the race. Hamilton did his final stint of 16 laps, and while their was a S/C period - he was staying with Alonso and the front 2 cars (on pace) all of which had 5 lap newer tyres - he passed Kimi who also didn't stop, although LH tyres were 7 laps newer than Kimi's. Lewis's middle stint was 28 lap's and while he was a bit monstered at the end by the cars with fresh tyres, still managed to come out alongside di Resta who had been on fresh rubber for 4 laps.
Also has LH finally got confidence in the car again. He has complained about not being happy with the brakes and balance on the Merc - yet at Silverstone at the end of Wellingotn into Luffield he was mighty on the brakes and the 0.4 secs quicker than Rosberg in qualy was great. So was this a flash in the pan as it was the British Grand-Prix with the extra fan power.....or a genuine improvement. If it's the latter it could be great 2nd half to the season.

Apparently a bit, apart from Mercedes. They're now letting race drivers be involved in the young drivers test, plus potentially extending it a day... What a fiasco this season is turning out in regards to testing and so on!How much testing are they going to get?
