Hi Guys
Racing on Saturday and Sunday and after testing we seem to have a heat issue with the swirl pot as it's mounted in the engine bay near the down-pipe (The car was built like this) I don't have time to move it all now to the back of the car so I am after suggestions for reducing heat in the bay and in that area. Any ideas, I am going to do these:
1. Lift the rear of the bonnet onto blocks
2. Wrap the pot with heat tape
3. Cover all fuel lines in bay with heat tube
4. Wrap the HP pump with tape and put heat shroud over it
5. Put extra heat shroud over the swirl pot
6. I was toying with adding these 4 inch fans I have to suck air out the bottom of the car
Anything else I can do?

You know I looked at the build thread pics last night and noticed two things.
One of the fuel pipes returning to the swirl pot is tie wrapped next to a big fat pipe going to cool the turbo! Both pipes are metal so the heat transfer there will be a lot I wager as the water pipe will be 95c. And the air filter is in a big metal scoop blocking the whole of the front of the car above the inter-cooler so Im going to move that and allow that air into the engine bay instead.

Use a fuel cooler from a modern common rail diesel, wrapping will help as a quick fix, TBH i've never been that convinced that raising the back of the bonnet will let hot air out, it's a high pressure area (where the air flow changes diredtion at the screen base) and is more likely to let air in than out and that extra air may be a problem elsewhere ?
+1 on that about lifting the rear of the bonnet. Think about it - that's where the ventilation inlet is for the cabin, while it's "high" pressure, it's not that high.
All of the "insulation" ideas are good - try to get some isolation in there to reduce the heat transfer. Gold foil is very good at reflecting heat. And if you can, duct some air from the front of the car to cool that area, (and the heated away from it if you can too).

Ok I won't raise the back of the bonnet as I can see where you're coming from with that one. Ill do all the other things and move that big air blocker that is shrouding my air filter, that will allow a ton of air into the bay and over the top of the rocker cover. Ive bought a sexier looking ITG now which is much smaller than that K&N
