How do you cool yours?

Dear Gentlemen!
I am a bit concerned now, after the Tank-thread.
So please be gentle.
I did it all as you recommended it to me.
Taking the Racer to the shops, works very well,
because of the huge boot.
I also took it to the builders supply. I am sure material has
never been delivered that fast before.
I also scared some people, but promise it was not my fault, mostly.
The racer really suits my needs as fast road car.
Even my better half finds sleep in it easily.
But only at standstill any more, because time has gone quickly,
when people lusted for a passenger seat.
I can´t understand why.
Everything is quite fine (at least when I have got the new clutch)
Only the engine cooling requires a thought at the moment.
Temperature is on the high side very fast, so being caught by traffic
causes quite a heartache.
I know now, that there was a reason the number plate was removed and
changed for a sticky one on the bonnet.
But still it tends to overheat in traffic quite quickly, especially
on todays hot temperatures.
Having a radiator (size 55/42/3,5 cm) and 2 oil coolers (each size
28/15/5 cm) and one Kenlowe Fan (40cm in dia in front of the rad).
What do you think, does it sound enough?
How do you cool yours?
I guess for the races you need even more cooling.
I have to confess, that I do not know yet, what temperature the
thermal switch opens and when the fan kicks in.
Sorry, forgot to mention it is an AJP.

They have no fan normally in race mode.
Race cars are cooled by the air flowing through the rad, we dont do traffic!
Mine (road/race use) ran very cool with the same set up that you have on the black one.
As its been stood for a while and wasn't looked after very well by the previous owner, I'd flush the cooling system and fit a new rad.
You can have a new one made with an extra core which will cool the car much better.
Is it a silver aluminium rad in there at the moment?

BTW, whats hot? what is indicated on the guage? They can be wrong too!

Both my cars run fans in fact two of them but I guess I'm not normal . That's Rover and Chevy ,Ali rad as well and in the stinking heat two weeks ago in a 30 min race water was at 97 degrees so that works for me.As an aside I have mine wired into the Omex ECU to adjust at what temp fans come in.Hope that helps, we are a happy/friendly bunch on here most of the time fools, gladly, suffer, not as the saying goes

I hope you are very well, it is good to hear from you.
Yes it is definitely running quite high as it spat some cooling water recently, when gauge was close to 110.
It has got a shiny nice ali rad but I think, with only 3.5 cm in thickness, it would benefit from a bit more. As 5cm and more would be easily possible.
As the problem only surfaces when stuck in traffic I will try your recommendations first.
Flushing the cooling system is never a bad idea anyway.
Further a 74 deg thermostat and a lower fan setting may help as well.
I will also try to go faster to catch more cool air.

Would adding a remote pressure tank / exoansion vessel help - plastic one off any road car. My 4.5 Tuscan (Andys) ran fine in rush hour traffic enroute to Oulton park with 2 fans fitted and tank. Movement helped massively, in fact I had to fit a thermostat to ensure she wouldn't run too cold and tape off half of oil coolers for road use. Plenty of summer coolant (anti freeze too). Ashley
