BTCC RD6 SNETTERTON
Discussion
So after what seems like an age since the last btcc race the circus is back on the road for the 2nd half of the season which should provide a very interesting and close end to the season.
However there is plenty of news since the last rd almost 6 weeks back new cars, new teams, and changes of cars so to begin
Warren scott is to run the 2nd team hard Passat still under his team but with help from team hard so with the 2nd Passat accounted for the rummored 3rd Passat could yet still be on the grid this year

In an unexpected move amd tunning has swapped the golf for driver james kaye to an ex 2011 Honda civic s2000 spec car driven by gorden shedden and tony gilham last year but the team is also looking for another driver for the golf to run a 2 car team

Andy neate after much delay has actually been out testing and looks to be all set for this weekend
http://www.btcc.net/html/generalnews_detail.php?id...
One driver to leave is james cole driving the team hard insignia
http://www.touringcartimes.com/2013/07/03/james-co...
uncertain who is going to be driving the car for the 2nd half of the season mayby team boss tony gilham
plenty of news from the test session early on in the month new drivers testing but to many stories to put up.
So with neal leading the standings Jordan/plato closing in and with the recent form with wsr with 2 wins and a 2nd in the last meeting, motorbase with the focus looking like the problems have been sorted. The Passat is getting stronger and then on top the 3 Toyota teams, rar, welchautomotive that all could give a surprise performance we are in for a truly spectacular 2nd half of the season.

So glad to have the BTCC back at last!
I see Rob Holland is going to be out in a Team Hard Insignia for this round.

Despite some exciting races this year and larger grids I just cannot get excited about the BTCC anymore. I genuinely cannot understand why but there just seems to be something missing, my feeling is the current cars seem just too easy to drive and a bit 'dull'. I know they are probably still incredibly challenging to drive competitively but they don't convey that to the outside spectators, seeming to grip forever, with no dramatic slides and balls out car control except for when its wet

Sorry but
If they look dull it's generally because the moment car control becomes significantly involved you're usually already having an accident, as most of them seem to have snap oversteer and very little steering lock!

Fair enough I will eat my words. Can't argue with your experience! Lol

I agree with Wookie on this.
The cars look like an absolute handfull these days. Quick, but very unforgiving.
They seem to have moved the game on with FWD cars- trick diffs and a backend thats massively loose to help turn in and tyre deg.
If you look at the guys trying to learn there way up in BTCC (inc Wookie ;-) ) they seem to have problems keeping the cars pointing in the correct direction, or managing the amount of slide AND sped.
My race Fiesta was hard enough to keep balanced through the corners, god knows how the drivers manage the rear of these cars.
Andrew Jordon has suberb car control- look at the onboards, and see some of the issues these guys deal with, and how they manage it.
Good luck for the weekend Ollie.

Going by the picture that Shedden just posted on twitter, it's monsoon season at the track at the moment.

Also here's a pic I took in Wales last week that I thought might be appreciated here
