Is Hamilton the fastest driver out there at the moment? are we about to see Lewis rule the roost again and will next year be his to win?
I know this thread might not go down well but I'm not A Hamilton fan boy! I have just been impressed by the last few qualifying laps and also his races! as I say, I have no real favourite but just recently for me its been "go Lewis"
Does anyone else agree?

Yes.
After a faltering start before getting properly to grips with new car and team, he seems to be settling in now. I think there may be a case to answer about mental frailty, in that he needs his head in the right place and seems easily (mis?)led; but this should not be confused with a lack of ability or conviction. Taking nothing away from Vettel, ever since Hamilton arrived on the GP2 scene, I've regarded him as 'the fastest driver' in open-wheeled racing.
Rosberg is very, very quick; but despite a friendly rivalry borne of mutual respect, I believe he may look back on life in years to come and see Hamilton as his ultimate nemesis.

Some drivers are fast only when the car/tyre package suits them, which makes them successful only because of opportunity. Schumacher made himself that window 2000-2004 and cleared up. How good he was other than that is hard to nail down, there are loads of fast drivers, but it would seem its hard to win a lot of races.

OK, so how about if we look at his first stint in F1?2. How fast will Rosberg be when he's 43?
1. does it take into account how many times he was driving a bent car?
2. does it take account of him driving other people off the track or other such dirty tactics?

The car does have a huge impact upon it but teams know how fast the car should be and know when a driver is "outperforming" that figure of course. THE CAR!
I would personally love to see a RBR car put on a track for a day with all drivers getting to drive the same car that day, say 12 laps, and see how they get on. Of course there would be an advantage to the RBR drivers but you have to pick a car somewhere..
Not every driver does it, and it does mix several series together, but the annual ROC is some kind of marker for drivers in equal cars. Schumacher/Vettel have won the team race for the last 6 years, individual winner F1 drivers have been Grosjean and Kovalainen, but Loeb (WRC) and Kristensen (LMP) regularly do well there. I'm putting money on Max Chilton winning the next one, who's with me?

Max Chilton couldn't win the raffle at ROC unless his Dad bought all the tickets for him.

Yes one race win in a car he's only been driving for 1/2 a season, Nico has 2 wins (one only cos Lewis had tyre issues lets not ofrget) but he's been in the car for 3 1/2 years (or 3 wins if you count last years results).Swap Hamilton and Hulkenberg and then come back and post this when he is milling around the midfield.
It seems to me some people are fanboys some people are haters who look for any reason to put a driver down? either that or they have a very short attention span and or memory ?
