What track to take my Cousin.

He is 12 now and likes the usual Porsches, Ferraris, etc.
I'm looking to spend some time getting to know him better now he is growing up fast.
I though a race meet with a broad class of cars would be great fun for both of us. It has been too many years since I followed club racing so I'm looking for any ideas, pointers please.
He is in Bromley, so no tracks up north as my car won't make it!

Britcar or British GT they have a good mixture of sportscars like Ferrai and Porsche. Brands Hatch is the best spectator circuit IMO. If its a race on the Indy circuit you can view the entire track on the Paddock hill bend grandstand. http://www.brandshatch.co.uk/calendar/2012/novembe...

As above - Brands is your obvious choice, only 20 minutes away on a good day!
British GT / F3 there next weekend, so maybe a good one to start with.
I'll be there marshalling, so hopefully a nice dry sunny weekend, with a bit of a cooling breeze - some hope, eh!!

FIA European Finals, Santa Pod, 5-8 September.

A bit short on Ferraris and Porsches, but I doubt that will worry him once he sees what's there.

Also, free admission for under-16s, which helps.

I'd vouch for the pod.....he won't believe his eyes! Jet cars, 8000hp top fuel etc...a porsche would wet itself if it turned up there!

I also agree with the Santa Pod suggestion. If the weather is ok you'll have a great day. Note at the FIA meets there are also a lot of other attractions (eg Monster Truck, drifting & stunt bike displays) plus you can have open access to the pit area and that's well worth a look & a chat with the teams, who tend to be friendly folks.

The cars are unbelievably quick if you've never seen them live. Only word of warning is to take earplugs, especially for the boy. The noise from Top Fuel cars will actually hurt you if unprotected.

Oh and watch you stand up wind when they fire up in the pits....nitro methane when burnt creates tear gas.....if you're down wind you get a face full....great fun tho!

Seriously though, if its dry, you won't have. Better days entertainment in the uk....air displays, monster trucks, fun fair, stunt display, drag racing and open pits....what more can you want!
