According to this article an F1 engine currently is like this "While a standard engine is powered by a belt connected to the crankshaft, a turbo engine runs on its own exhaust steam, making it more energy efficient." but the new ones, well, they're MAGIC! They run on STEAM!
You really CANNOT trust mainstream journalists to talk about anything remotely technical.
Just, WOW.
Now I try not to be in anmy way sexist and I welcome women in nearly every job that men do, but this article? Written by two women.

I'm pretty sure it's an AA battery.I think the thing they were trying to explain was the (new for 2014) heat energy recovery system (ERS), and the fact that electrical energy from the KERS (now called ERS-Kinetic) will be able to directly (electrically) spin up the turbo in the 2014 engines.
Doesn't excuse the article though.

Funny enough I was sitting in my hotel room flicking between channels last night and I happened across an American news channel (not CNN) with a 3-way teleconferenced debate about BitCoin.
So basically they'd picked some clueless bigot for the anti side who looked authoritative and knowledgeable by knowing how to present himself while actually not knowing anything about the subject, a silent and opinionless 'on the fence' panellist, and an irritating younger guy who kept rolling his eyes and getting angry which was rendering his occasionally valid points moot.
Worst of all the ineloquent oik they'd picked to represent to pro side was a Brit, replete with cliché London backdrop.
It was a total farce, Pro and Anti were literally shouting at and over the top of eachother while the presenter had to step in to actually ask the third guy if he wanted to contribute anything! I'm not even sure what the point was of the whole thing was in the end other than perhaps brainwashing stupid people into being against BitCoin.

Wasn't the only year of all turbo '86? IIRC in '85 even Tyrrell ended up using a Renault turbo from half season (Tested at Silverstone).

Splitting hairs. No V6t engined car could win the Montreal '88 raft race either, for the same reason. The turbo cars won everything that mattered.
