The BRDC’s members have not given consent for the board to sell Silverstone outright, which is why it embarked on granting a long-term lease.
..................

A senior motorsport personality, who is a BRDC member, told The Independent: “A deal has been done on Silverstone. I don’t know who bought it and I don’t know what the terms are, but it is absolutely categoric that a deal has been done and not due to be announced until next month probably.”
End quote.

Sound as if it could be correct to me - I saw a PCW webpage a few years ago that said something about looking for buyers for Silverstone, when I questioned it with PCW they said not buyers just investors.

MEPC, pension fund investment company, BT & or Royal Mail I believe owned, sounds like more wolves in sheeps clothing sculduggery to me.

British GP is a loss leader (thanks to the midas midgets 'pricing structure') who can justify that to investors.

Push up prices - by strange coincidence less custom. Hotels/ offices/housing built, increases noise restrictions & running days.

Oh dear unfortunately Silverstone is not viable business as a race circuit, have to turn the whole development into industrial/shopping/housing estate (BROOKLANDS) a few plaques around the new development proudly denoting its historic past.

I doubt you'll find housing estates cropping up.

Interesting development.

Let's let the dust settle, it is afterall else, silly season.

Makes sense BRDC do not have the cash to build out the 2009 masterplan of which parts are needed (permanent grandstands) and others there to pay the bills, lets see if it turns out better than nür-disney.

Haven't Silverstone openly admitted in the past they were looking to sell off some land for housing development? I thought it was a dangerous game to play.

There was talk of it a few years ago so far as i recall as a total last ditch and also I seem to remember that it was part of the bigger game to secure the GP for a long term contract.
