Sky Sports F1 subscription changes

Just a heads up - after a cock-up with Sky Sports F1 on my tv package, a senior manager has just admitted that next year's season will require a subscription to the Sky Sports package, not just subscription to the HD pack.

The only reasoning got Sky was for the F1 and to get ESPN for some of the rugby. Now all of the Rugby is available thought BT Sport we'll see how strict they are applying that policy when I cancel it...

I'm not paying for all that football I ave got zero interest in.

You can still pay for a day pass, and presumably you will be able to next year?

I was told that would happen after they introduced the entertainment plus pack a few months ago.
I was also told that if I wanted Eurosport I could only get it by signing up for a year.

I still have the F1 and haven't got any other Sky sports and I got Eurosport for a month - £5 for LeMans!

I think it depends who you talk to at Sky as to what answer you get.

Since April this year, new customers need sky sports to have f1, existing customers with the hd pack don't. Next year, everyone will need sky sports to get f1. That's what the guy told me.

Not surprised and if that is the case I will probably end up cancelling my sky and shift to virgin. Sadly it will also probably mean I won't follow the F1 as I dislike highlights.

But what I'm saying is that I was told was after April this year I would need Sky sports to watch F1 and that was wrong.

I have been very impressed with the BBC highlights this year, almost better than the live races!

Got Sky Sports for free last time we did the 'I'm pretending I'll leave if you're gits' dance. Worth a punt, though I guess their generosity varies.

Unless the change is made 'off package increase' then next September will be when it happens. As in September 2014.

F1 is about the only thing that ties me to SKY. Being forced to pay for football and other sports I don't watch would be too big an ask. Especially given The increasing and improving alternatives available these days.

I know where you are coming from but in a way I've come to like the highlights. Much prefer the coverage & it's freed up some Sunday afternoon time.

I will not pay for sky sports, I am very clear on that.

My sky already costs more than my insurance for my Porsche and that doesn't add up to me.

I've been watching F1 for about 35 years but I'm not going to pay for the sports package to continue doing so, Sky already costs us too much at £61.75 per month, especially when compared to the BBC at £145.50 per year.

I prefer the BBC coverage so watch that when it's available, and rarely watch football, so I'd be paying for the full Sky Sports package just to watch the races that BBC doesn't show live, it's not worth it.

Bt now own the rights to the ESPN brand in the uk hence why you get it with bt sport

Yep I'll be back to the Beeb from next year if this is the case.

I never watch any other sports so I won;t pay for that. The channel does not justify the price (whatever it is) a few hours of racing every fortnight and a lot of reruns of stuff followed by Ted Kravitz walking round a car park with a notepad....

You can keep it Sky, in fact I'll cancel the HD too and just take the free to air HD thanks. Your cunning plan to get more money will just cost you £10 a month from my account.
