Meeke rolls...on stage 1!

Sayonara to his WRC career. It amazes me why people just don't learn. Matton isn't to Meeke what DR was to McRae...he fired a warning shot across his bows after Finland. It's just as well that Kubica keeps throwing it at the scenery as well and that Sordo isn't on form.

Looking at his split times he was second quickest at that point ( to Ogier ) so the speed is there. He made a small mistake to which the penalty was disproportionate, as he slid slightly wide, the wheels dropped over the edge and then it rolled. A slow speed accident.

JML however is all at sea this weekend and also has a propensity to drop it, but still he keeps being forgiven.Hirvonen hasn't got the last little bit of speed and he's being doing this for years.

Yes Meeke needed to finish, but I suspect he targetted the long stage to attack in order to get closer to Neuville - who everybody lauds but is no quicker than Meeke.

Meeke's signing has given the other Citroen drivers a kick up the ass, and pulled Citroen along with it. He deserves a kicking, but he also needs to be given a longer term opportunity so we can take his performance across the whole year rather than in isolation. He has done less than 20 events in a WRC car.

Given his positioning in both rallies when he went out I think He deserves a longer term shot. He seems to have the speed and needs to bedded in and know where the limits are. As for Stage 1 that was two days ago.

Yep, spologies for that. I just can't see him getting another tilt at it.

To finish first, first you must finish. Yes you can stop a quick driver crashing more easily than you can make a slow one fast but there is a point at which you have to say "6 solid points positions is better then 6 crashes whilst running in the top 3."

Much as I want him to do well, he took a rear suspension corner off in the last stage as well.

He needs more match practice with a little less 'this is your one shot' pressure.
