Future Classic Oulton
Discussion
It wasn't a good day for Porsche's Perry, 2 got badly damaged on the start line of the Modern Classics race which meant we didnt line up on the grid until 5.00 IIRC.
Quallied 2nd despite running problems (for a change
) but only got a couple of laps before a Porsche 928 finished up on it's roof at Lakeside.
A few laps of safety car and the race was abandoned, we were in 2nd and i was settling in for a challenge for the win - once i felt confident with the list 1B Dunlops.
We'd even got the pit stop nailed , it would have been Textbook
.
Strangely, race results were issued at the circuit but not on TSL - so im not sure if it was a Race or not ?
Not that it matters, as that's my season finished , time to concentrate on 2 seater (it's having the spanking new AJP fitted) and FINALLY sorting the Lucas injection probs on the Rover car which when it'was running right in Qually was lovely).
BTW Perry are you at Donington in Oct and DTEC next season ?

Blimey looked like a right badly parked Porsche car park, looking at the different on boards. Not a great meeting all in all and not much racing for a lot of people by the sound of it.In a couple of vids I saw last night your start was a real good un,oh what might have been. Shame your season finished in that way. Still as you say it was a foregone conclusion in the TVR favour anyway. I take it the very quick 308 wasn't on the grid since it's trip to the barriers at Combe a couple of months ago. It's a great car to race against, Tim beat it at Brands, I had a right wheel banging battle with it at Combe so next season we leave it to you at Oulton
no pressure then.
Hoping to go to Donny depending on what happens with the final race at Combe on 5th Oct. I need a second and fastest lap to have the TVR Grin. We have had a fantastic season at Combe this year. Not sure what we will be doing next year, not many cars in A+ in DETEC unless something changes over the winter. I have missed racing with you lot this year. Deffinatly will be doing some more Future Classic's and will go to SPA with them for sure in the RV8.Graham is still working on his race in Spa which the Chevy can race in so really hope that happens. Taking car 77 round Spa would be the pinnacle on the racing cake for me and I am looking into Belcar and Dutch super car but I have to have a roof on car for both of those options. I take it you are going to Run the green car in DETEC with the new engine.

Would have like to have raced the 308 and Esprit - they dusted us last year but we've found another 50bhp since then
.
Got lot's of Big Plans for next season - racing the green 2 seater( with the engine we're fitting it's the nearest thing to a new TC race car).
Fitting the purple car with the original low hrs and freshly rebuilt engine from the 2 seater (current engine has been running with K seal cooling system sealer since 2011 and is starting to feel a little tired) and getting back out in it (the car im most at home with).
Nailing that last 5% of of problems with the Rover engined car - whatever it takes - and entering a few more Future Classics races (which is why we built it).
Back in the Real World though, im skint - six consecutive seasons of racing has left it's mark - so i may have to content myself with a few well chosen track days in the Chim , or failing that i've got a great little "circuit" between my house and the Cooperative supermarket , some nice bends and lovely crests and dips - i can really get the MR2 dancing and if im not carrying too many Tins/Bottles i can get some respectable Times .... who said Motor Sport was costly ?

LOL... I hear you when you say you are skint, I just finished paying for the yellow car rebuild so we could race it in future classic's a couple months ago, only to have it apart again now to sort out a wrecked gearbox, grorntching sounds coming from the diff, getting a new propshaft made to fit properly,10th time of replacing exhaust manifold gaskets the list goes on. All that and I still have to race at Combe in a weeks time so need to get to grips with the white cars auto blip system and prep for the final show down. Racing who said it was a part time hobby
as the last three seasons have been pretty long and hectic with loads a racing I may join you on a few track days instead oh and take Debbie for a fortnight hols in relative luxury ( I just bought a new two man tent ).
