It is this kind of sportmanship that many tune in for.

If I was Mark - personally unless bound and tied up by contract, I'd sack it off. Car burst into flames. Car bgreaks down. Updates given to others in previous season. Team orders disobeyed.

Brilliant driver that hasn't had the rub of the green at RB for seasons. "Not bad for a No.2 driver". Well mate, for many - you've always been an worthy equal to team mates, shame the kit has been left wanting.

No grid penalty for Alonso, just a reprimand, Webber's further penalty was for racking up three reprimands.

Indeed, seems like a pathetic response.

However there was a risk of injury to Mark, which is why it's banned. However, if he chose to do it himself then he's accepting that risk - no need to penalise.

It would probably help to watch the video of it before forming an opinion.

Alonso stopped on the track, on the racing line no less, and both Mercedes behind had to take avoiding action. Even Hamilton said that had Webber been walking across when he rounded the corner that he would've run over him.

Good for spectators? Yes. But they ought to make sure what they're doing doesn't have the potential to result in a disaster.

It was pretty stupid of them to do it there - they were cars going past, and honestly it wasnt that safe!

A shame, but no biggy.

As mentioned, the FIA only gave a slap on the wrists, but it was the tird so it is a penalty.

Watched the CCTV video - still have the same oppinion. Perhaps my risk management levels aren't calibrated to yours, I saw no issue other than those on the slow down/warm down lap perhaps travelling a bit quickly. Certainly Hamilton/rosberg weren't receiving plaudits for the crowd, were they?

Totaly deserved, Fred could of pulled OFF the track instead of stoping in the middle of it round a blind bend, fook me even new drivers are taught not to do that so i would expect more of a 2 times F1 champion! webber ran out onto a track in front of cars doing well over 50 MPH and it was close with both mercs having to pass either side of Freds car, not a clever way to do it IMHO, perspective or not, good idea stupidly exicuted.

Well in all fairness, the only one at any kind of risk was Webber and he chose to nip across the track for a lift. It was a 50mph bend, not 150. He's a big boy.

All this just highlights how up tight the FIA etc have got towards anything other than keeping the procession going and the cash rolling in.

Let's be honest here - if Webber had been clipped by another car and was injured the peanut gallery would be saying "why don't the FIA come down harder on this rule breaking before someone gets killed??/?".

As much as it is a nice spectacle for the fans, Alonso doing 110kph with Webber hanging on with his hands and one leg isn't exactly in keeping with the safety ideologies of the sport.

In all fairness, a Marshall told him not to do it. He ignored it. You simply don't ignore the directors of a Marshall, so he got off lightly in my opinion. There are examples in the past of people on the track who shouldn't be there. The nutter at Silverstone one year was lucky. The Marshall in 1977 wasn't so lucky. And a weight of, say 80kg hitting a helmet at 50mph would do some damage to both helmet wearer and pedestrian

To be fair to Mark, he was probably a little miffed his car had croaked and at times like that, sometimes the last thing you need is a marshall telling you x,y,z. In fact, Mark may not have even heard the marshall.

I'm sure any competitors reading will get my point.

urm so its ok for the drivers to drive a 200 mph between 2 concrete walls for 2 hours, but not to get a ligt back to the pits after the race ffs... and yes i have seen the tv clip... the race had finished so thats generally the time everyone pootles back to the pits and its not uncommon for people to slow in unexpected places so drivers should expect it... I certainly do..

The GP2 Caterham was returning to Parc Ferme as instructed (just after T4) - it requires an acute turn off the circuit. Leimer, as a podium finisher, should continue and complete the lap and use the Parc Ferme under Race Control. Complete misjudgement by Leimer (which went unpunished).

It's certainly been one of the highlights in what has been a pretty dull season. Fans have even taken to booing the winner they're getting so fed up with the procession races we've had. Webber on Alonso's car will be shown in all the review clips of this year.
