From what I recall, it was ITV who actually covered the Japanese Grand Prix in 1976, not the BBC.

The BBC were having period of soul searching at the time over F1 coverage due to the sponsorhip colours worn by the cars.

Should this topic be in the F1 or Motorsport forum?

I hate the way the F1 is now a separate forum. Needs to be put back under General !

I personally think its much better being in a separate forum. It means I can read loads of good stuff about the sport I love without having to put up with all the inane drivel posted by the fanboys who don't know motorsport exists outside of F1.

The dross was put off by the (largely) intelligent levels of posting on PH. They are already well catered for on the Autosport forums in "racing comments".

There will always be a few that stick around, but historically it has not been that many.
