Rumour in the comic this week was that de la Rosa is being hinted at for the second McLaren race seat... That's a bad thing! If Renault are not keeping Heikki Ron ought to be giving him a ring.

I suppose that solves two problems for RD - he keeps the Spanish sponsors happy, and he does not have to write a particularly large cheque for PDLR's services as second driver.

I'd imagine Flav would want "decent" money for Hekki's services, something that Toyota appear to be more than willing to do.

I feel quite sorry for Kovie, shunted out of Renault because he poses a threat to Alonso!!!! He will fit in well in McMerc, young, professional and mentally balanced. Hopefully they can stick it to the rest fo the grid in 08

Piquet will be under orders to bow to Alonso. Does Flav really think that Piquet Sr will be telling his son to actually sit back and do that?

Alonso won't know which way to look next season. He'll have Hamilton and whoever is in the second Mclaren going quickly, a fired up World Champion and a wannabe world champion in quick Ferrari's (Although, I think the wheels might start falling off the Prancing Horses's carriages from this season onwards, they're doing a good job of losing all the people who built them up) and a Renault team who must still be smarting from the fact that he left them to go to McLaren AND he only wants a single year contract... All allied ot a team-mate who's sole aim will be to beat his more expeienced team leader as often as possible.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear... should have stayed at McLaren and just got on with trying to win a World Championship in the best car Fernando.

There's nothing new under the sun - I think I'm right in saying that Senna blocked Derek Warwick being signed by Lotus for '85 because Warwick was perceived by Senna to be too great a threat within the team.

Also saw that on the BBC article. It reduces Alonso's credibility as a driver in my eyes, bit time.

Looking forward to Heiki and Lewis going at it next year. Although I can see McLaren falling behind as the season goes on with 2 inexperienced drivers at the helm, say what you like about Alonso but he has plenty experience in terms of developing winning cars. Has Heiki got much dev experience?

Why do you think the Renault drivers will be battling it out? I'm sure Alonso will recieve favourable treatment at Renault (probably in his contract!) which will be enough for his team mate not to be a threat.
