Still have to pay McLaren €10m per season until 2011 even without their boy in the driving seat.

no need to feel sorry for them, they're a bank for starters biggrin

also, they're sponsoring one of the highest profile teams with a British driver who will provide massive publicity for them in the UK and Germany with the Mercedes connection. Both markets are far more improtant potentially than Spain so I'm sure they're quite happy. wink

Sounds like they'll make sure good old Pedro gets the second McLaren.

I think the Abbey National are very happy to have young Lewis promoting their international business.

More inside info...

Santander/Abbey poorly represented in the north of England/Scotland, so expect shortly a big expansion by them in that area shortly.

Probably going to try and convert those northern sports fans from boxing to motor-racing.

More likely they are hoping to collect to cash withdrawn from Northern Rock and currently under northern mattresses.

I can't speak for Scotland but there's plenty of Abbey branches around here.

Well I guess any publicity is good publicity.

Although you try telling that to Paul Gadd.

Surely if the only pay 10M euros a year they would struggle to influence the colour of the wheel nuts let alone the driver line up?

An Abbey employee nicked one of the Hamilton cutouts from his branch and sold it on Ebay for just under £250!!
