Hi folks, just dropping a line to say my 2008 season has already been dealt a severe blow. I got arse ended by a 50-60mph Defender on Saturday while sat at a junction, I swallowed my tongue in the shunt and have all the classic injuries associated with a shunt. It makes my moment in pink Taz look quite insignificant, the only straight panel left on my car is the OSF wing and the impact snapped the front axle of the Defender.
Presently any thoughts of prep work are out the window and time alone will tell when I'll be fit to be in a race seat.
Still I'm glad I'm not on a trolley in Rose Cottage, if I'd collected the car coming towards me as I span across the junction I would of been like a rag doll in the car as my seat back collapsed in the initial shunt.

sorry to hear that Iain, hope you have a quick recovery, and you do get a chance to get out racing, fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear that Iain, hope you are feeling better soon.
I had almost exactly the same accident just before Christmas - sat minding my own business on pole position (first time that's happened in a long while!!)at red traffic lights at the top of a motorway slip road. Some idiot came up the slip road and ploughed into the near side rear corner.
The difference between your accident and mine was I was in an X5 and my assailant in a Vauxhall Corsa - yours sounds like the balance was more the other way. I got away with a big lump on the back of my head, stiff neck/shoulders and a bruised leg. The front seat passenger in the Corsa was removed on a stretcher after the fire bridage cut the roof off the remnants of the Corsa.
The X5 didn't look too bad, but if you looked closely you could see the rear subframe was split and there was a small crease in the roof. Apparently I am now the recovery man's record for newest car recovered, with 84 miles on the clock. Fortunately it was a company car or I'd have been a bit p1ssed off
Anyway, the moral of the story is if you have to be in an accident, big is definitely better. I must remember to mention that to those pesky Radical drivers next time I enter one of those mixed sportscar races

and with a fair wind I should be out to play. The back is still not good, infact really playing up today, but with more training and exercise it will improve.ceejay said:

as our highspeed accountant rightly pointed out actually its only 2.13% further... sadly most of the stuff im looking at though is in the states so its about 20% more expensive than it was 4 months ago
even flicking through the GPR rag there is stuff thats gone from 1800 in the 2008 cat to 2100 in the 2009 one ... gits...
