Hi

I am looking to help out a race team for the 2008 season, I dont mind doing any sort of racing, I am based in Swindon, I have no transport, so if any teams either have people who work for them in Swindon, they could possible pick me up or if you are based near a train station.

I am 17 and go to Lackham college doing a first diploma in motorsport. I am looking at doing a full season, unpaid, I dotn mind doing any jobs as it is all experience and that is what I need to make my self stand out when I go and get a job.

Last year, I did a full season at castle combe and a few FPA meetings and did refulling at the 24 hour Britcar race.

You can either post on here or email me on james.dicks@ntlworld.com

I am not sure that too many team owners/engineers use this forum !

I would suggest you speak with James at the EERC office on 01252 834377 and maybe get a list of entrants and their numbers, and have a phone around.

Good luck !

James,

You do realise that Synchro is set up for the Swindon plant workers and so getting a job with them as a non Honda employee is impossible.

As a few others have suggested, go to Britcar directly. And don't give up too easily!

Andy.

Like I said to you in earlier emails, being proactive is the key, why don't you actually visit some of the teams instead of posting on here, the details are easily sourced so if you want it then just do it, if you give up that easily then maybe you're better off considering doing something easy rather than something motorsport related

I think the transport situation is probably the biggest stumbling block. The chances of finding someone based in or around Swindon might be a bit remote.

If it isn't worth your effort to pick up a phone then what hope do you have of putting in the effort to do this for a living!

You have worked for my team in the past and did very well, and as others have said on here, transport is a problem and you will need to find a solution to in order to progress, but faint heart never a fair maiden won, so keep at it until you reach your goal. I know that you are very young and therefore rejection comes hard, but believe me, you will do yourself no favours by adopting a an attitude that indicates a lack of commitment and tenacity. I know that you have a passion for Motorsport, so don't fall at the first, second or even tenth hurdle, getting what you want is only part of the problem, keeping it is the real task.

Life my friend, is a series of hurdles that we must all learn to cope with, the bit in between the jumps is only there so that you can have a brief rest-bite before you set yourself up for the next one.

Don't lose heart, lose the attitude.

Hi

Just to let you know i am working with a good race team based about 15mins from me, they race at castle combe, and are quite good, but they are teaching me how to use Motec and i can go down there on mondays to help build the car.
