Assignment Assistance for Son

Hi,

Have been looking online for a circa 20sec (downloadable) clip of Formula Ford (without any On-Screen Info). Something from a Private Video Camera would be ideal.

Additionally need a good photo of a big screen at a circuit with something on it.

This is to help my son with a college assignment.

Help !!!!, as you can imagine, he has left things to the last min.

Thanks for everyones help, we ended up getting it in with no time to spare this morning.... why do kids leave these things until the very last min.


Found he has another 3 assignments that he was given last year to finish !!!

Time Managenment really needs putting on his curriculum.

Kids will always leave things to the last moment if Daddy then bails them out.

Why are you doing the legwork on this?

Why are you doing the legwork on this?

Because on this occasion he would have failed his course and I felt compelled to act as a father, however, the hard lesson for him was withdrawal of some other things he likes until he provides a full written plan of how to get back up to date.

Also he will be monitored much more over the next month or two.

Err, I was in my 20's by the time I had got to realising that life was so much easier if you got the leg work and basics done as soon as you possibly could. I still ended up doing most of h=the typing up in the last 48 hours though...

He is 18 and has not yet realised that you have to do the things you don't like as well as those you enjoy. Last year was all hands on (the bit he likes)

Unfortunatley, on this occasion, it is not that he was incapable, but he did panic, having realised he had 3 very different assignments to do, with no time to do them... complete lack of time and priority management...

My son is doing so called A levels.

I call it cutting and pasting from google by numbers.
Yep and he leaves things till the death too.
Secretly I hope he fails to teach him a lesson but realistically I know I will help him do his business studies spreadsheets and his teachers will give him unlimited attempts to get his coursework finished.
In the real world modern students must be clueless despite qualifications.
My son an A* gcse student now following on to A level business studies asked me how much petrol was for a piece of work the other day. He spends six hours a night on myspace....I refused to tell him.

That is weird as i am 17 and do motorsport at college, i have been taught by me parents and myolder brothers and sisters. When you get the assignment, you should read it and attempt it and get it on on time. I see other people at my college wait till the day it has to be giving it in and only do half of it and they fail.

It's always a moot point as to how much help kids should receive from their parents. I certainly valued help and guidance given by my parents - especially my mother - nad that was almost 40 years ago.

I know the nature of homework and course work has changed massively since those days, not to menation research tools such as the Internet - but the principles are still the same.

Parents have a vital part to play in their children's education. Drawing the line at where to stop helping is the difficult part.

And not forgetting that the major gain from doing it as early as possible is that it also gives you the chance to go over it again before submitting it and potentially making it even better

It's not only in school though, doing worldwide field service work I am all over the shop at a moment notice and have stacks of paperwork to submit from each customer visit, but where I will sit in the airport waiting for my flight home writing it up if it's not already done the other lads I work with end up just hitting the bar - then they complain when a week or two later everyone's on their case for their service reports and subsequently affecting their performance rating and potential wage rise too...

The most effective time to write a report (whether school or work related) is when you've just learned the information pertaining to it, as it's then fresh in your mind and you don't make mistakes when putting your take on things down on paper (oh I'm getting old, I meant laptop)
