Well at least with Dave you know exactly what time it will be on and where! May not be the best but its better than last years which I think I missed all of.

Track racing, yawn. Tracks: either wet or dry equals predictable. (unless we're talking Nordschleife)
One make championships just expensive banger racing, Touring cars the same but more egos, F1 just 4 wheeled politics and usually a headline grabbing farce.
Rallying equals more driver skill in constantly changing conditions/surfaces but suffers from pitiful coverage and too much criticism from the "ye olde wasn't it great way back when a rally was for men" nostalgia brigade.

agreed, rallying is the only motorsport where skill comes first.

For the record though, the olde nostalgia brigade are right, it's not the same as it used to be.

Just got back from the Riponian Stages Rally, oddly enough near Ripon, Thirsk, North Yorkshire etc.
Fantastic event, 77 cars entered very friendly bunch too.
A couple of very quick WRC cars, 6R4, Puma Kit Car and a Punto Abarth S1600 as a course car to name but a few.
4 stages at the Lightwater Valley Theme park, didn't pay a penny to get in and could practically stand anywhere.
Wales Rally GB Organisers could learn a thing or two from this event.

You're not wrong. More than once I've thought that Golf looks like a good idea sometimes.

At least that way you can't get stuck in the middle of Glastonbury festival site for hours on a cold Saturday night in Febuary

Day one and two were good. Shame it was obvious that day three would remain unchanged from two.

Great result.

I watched Eurosport daily then the result at the end of the Dave rally episode on Sunday.
Dave spent too long featuring rally jumps, that could be saved for the preview show (although I feel we will see it again on the preview/review show).

No, we took the exhaust off on the first selective at Worthy then attled on for a few selectives before having to cut back to Glastonbury to put a new exhaust on and clean out the carb which was full of carp.

Then went back to Worthy for the evening selective and broke down after about 5 miles, bad earth we think, coupled with a knackered carb.

Really disappointed not to get further but such is life!

On the subject of the WRC, the coverage is ok but is far too simplified and makes it seem confusing for example the head to head is rubbish as it doesn't show them head to head at all, it implies the cars start at 20 second intervals when they are 2 minute intervals.

Still much better than the old coverage, still room for improvement though.
