NASCAR ON TV....SKY SPORTS OR NASN (SETANTA)
Discussion
Gearing up for the new NASCAR season, i`m an NASN (Setanta) subscriber just for the racing but saw in this weeks Autosport that Sky sports has signed a 2 year deal to show the races live and from the listings i can see they are showing the Bud shootout as well. NASN`s website is saying they are showing the NASCAR exlusivly starting with the `camping world 300 on the 16th Feb`.......Well that is next Saturdays Nationwide (ex Busch series). So my question is have Sky now got exclusive broadcast rights in the UK for the cup series and therefore i will be needing to switch my subscription?........Martin
Speed via TVU is the main one but there is also a Mexican site which shows racing when it involves a Telmex sponsored driver. http://www.transmisionenlinea.prodigy.com.mx/
I've also used SopCast in the past to get channels like ESPN to watch the IRL.

Sopcast and TVU stopped carrying Fox and ABC last year making watching the Nextel Cup races online rather difficult. I only tried when Setanta decided they would rather show rugby to people in Ireland than Nascar though. Since the Busch (as was) was on ESPN2 in the US that never appeared on either online streaming service that I saw.
Hopefully with Sky having four channels they will have no excuse for not showing all the races live. I imagine NASN will probably delay most of the Nationwide races to show blokes playing rounders like they did last year

Last year you could watch most of the Busch Series races for free on nascar.com, and I believe they'll be doing it again his year (with the Nationwide Series). .Last season you could watch a one hour review programme of each race on a freeview channel during the week, thursday 7pm (IRRC), it was called Five US or Five life; somewhere up there between the shopping channels and the kids stuff but befoe you get to the exciting world of 24 hour news. Ok not the same as watching the whole thing live, but It was an enjoyable show, the usual over excited american presenters, insane graphics, and extra slow-mo on the crashes.

It's not the whole thing live that's the selling point, it's the nice regular Sunday evening bit of entertainment to take your mind off Monday that appeals. Chav sports subscription it is, then. I'll never live it down
