Hello all, I will be running my usual classic Porsche (231 bhp, 1100kgs) this year in a series where any list 1B tyre is acceptable. Tyre size available to fit my 8" and 9" x 16" wheels appears to be limited - to Michelin PSC or Kumho V70A (or conceivably Toyo R888). I fancy the Kumhos, which gets good reviews............but List 1B actually shows only the Kumho Ecsta V700, and when I rang the MSA to check, they said the V70A wouldn't be valid - but as far as I can see, the V70A has superceded the V700.
Anyone able to confirm V70A is legit?

IIRC we were on the hard compound. They were our control tyre for four seasons...
They were only any good for about 6 heat cycles and the drop off when they got hot was quite a lot. I've stil got load of 15" kumho's with plenty of tread depth but rock hard and totaly shagged..
The switch to dunlop doj1's was like night and day..
Maybe the cars were a bit light for that compound ( it was the same as the beemers were running) but then you'd have thought we'd get problems with not enough heat.
A good example of performance was the old anglesey. now I've done hundreds of laps round there in the old tasmin, and we knew what time we could do and what a good taz time was ( helps being the lap record holder :wink
going out from the pit lane on cold tyres and driving flat out from there ( so sliding a bit for the first 2 laps), i had 4 laps to get a lap in before they would start to drop off and the times with them..
I say this was 2004 the last time we ran them so they may have improved since then, and a lot does depend on the way the car uses the tyres..
in 2003 when I was fighting for 10ths and the class win ( which we got) I used 5 sets over about 12 races. In contrast with the dunlop listb's running them on the Tuscan in the first year we used one set !!! and the fight for the class was probably closer. Also they were still better at the end of the year than the Khumo's!!
