Must see event in UK

Hi All

I fancy treating my dad to some motor racing this year. What is the recommendation for must see action in the UK? I took him to goodwood festival of speed before. Any suggestions would be great.

Anything at brands. Best track to watch things at in the UK imho!

I am not to far from Brands which I have been too.

Are there any races where the Morgan Aero competes?

The Morgan runs in GT3 classes. National and International.

Gotta be Rallycross at Lyden Hill, ace venue and a brilliant series.

Rallye Sunseeker this weekend....16 or so Metro 6R4's out to play.

Race Retro (Historic Motorsports Show) at Stoneleigh park next month, The Rally Show at Chatsworth.

Oulton Park Gold Cup, The Silverstone Classic, Brands Hatch Historic Masters. F3/GT at Oulton Park over Easter is a good meeting that doesn't draw the nutters that the BTCC does..

F3/GT would be good although I am taking part in stag date karting event that weekend. I really want to see the morgan. I last saw them at LeMan and they sounded great.

The best event I can think of, and one which I go to every year with my dad who's in his 60's is the Isle of Man TT races.

No other motorsport event provides such access to riders, such access to the circuit, views of the racers or sheer atmosphere. I've been going for the last 6 years and every view of every practice session / race has been different and just as spectacular.

To sit at Kirk Michael behind a 2ft wall as the bikes race by at 170mph just 8ft away is simply awesome, or sitting on the mountain as they barrel by within feet of you stood behind a waist high wire fence cannot be matched.

Of course, if it has to be 4 wheels then this is meaningless.

Any of the British Hillclimb championship rounds - theres Gurston Down in Salisbury and Wiscombe Park in Devon

the See Red VSCC event at Donington http://www.see-red.uk.com/ (usually september)

the 750mc club races around the country - for some of the best club level racing (often better than the big pros )

My 2p - if you fancy something a bit less mainstream

BriSCA F1 stock car racing. Coventry stadium is best, first Saturday of every month from April to November.
Or any of the 'big' meetings at Santa Pod when the top fuelers are running.

If you done Goodwood Festival of Speed and he enjoyed that, then absolutely definately do the Goodwood Revival meet in September....it's an absolute must see

why not one of the big hillclimb meets? by far and away the most sociable atmosphere of any motorsport event, great cars, the vintage days at shelsley and prescott are far cheaper than the goodwood festival of speed, more accessable, feature many of the same/similar cars (and my word do they go for it!)and you can wander round the paddock which is far less populated than goodwood. to borrow the old brooklands phrase, its "the right crowd and no crowding"

the big national championship days are awesome, ex f1 and DTM engined cars topping 130mph at shelsley and on a track 10 ft wide.... bravery beyond belief...
