I'd like to make a request.

2007 was a bad year for a lot of people in F1, people said things, people sued people and an awful lot of them came out of it looking rather bad. So, here's what I propose: once the 2008 season starts, can we have a self-imposed ban on any reference to anyone's behaviour from last year please?

Otherwise, we'll have the same situation we've seen during the off season where every thread seems to turn into McLaren cheated/no they didn't Ferrari are bds/Lewis Hamilton is a gobste/Alonso should die a horrible death.

Let's have a fresh start for this year, and take everything that happens as though this year is the first year of F1. Maybe make an exception made for 'form' discussions.

What say you?

I'm in...as long as we can all agree Mosley is a cock.

I actually am in, I think it's a jolly good idea to draw a line under it all...

Ok, I think we can all agree that Mosley is a cock. laugh

But I really mean it, no more calling Alonso a Spantard or a whiny b*tch - unless of course we see the same behaviour this year. No more taking pops at Hamilton because of what he apparently did and said to offend people last year.

No calling McLaren cheats, no accusing Ferrari of rigging it all - unless we see evidence of it post-Australian GP.

Basically, everyone is still fair game, but I'd rather not waste my time reading people saying, "oh, yeah but last year so-and-so did such-and-such so him pulling a fellow driver from a burning wreckage doesn't count and he's still a moaner/crap/coward".

So, we're in agreement then? We'll have to regulate it ourselves though, with gentle warnings for people who don't know the rules, followed by a flaming once they've been told. wink

ETA: Why is bh blanked out but not crap?

Are you also wondering whether tomorrow morning the sun will rise?

If one were to agree to the proposed amnesty covering 2007, would that preclude one's referring to Ferrari's rich history of cheating, rule manipulation, corrupt relationship with the regulator, contempt for fair play and for the best interests of motor sport, and general low-rent behaviour for the previous fifty years?

We'll tentatively put you down as a "no" then?

I don't think I criticised or even referred to anything that Luca's lice did during 2007. No need to do.
They could have conducted themselves in 2007 more honourably than any team in the history of sport, and still it wouldn't have undone the fact of their many decades of having polluted motor sport.

Yes, and whether or not I'll see a flying pig turning lead into gold whilst simultaneously providing irrefutable evidence of creationism. wink

Not neccissarily, but I think it would be a pity to dwell specifically on some of the things that happened last year. Weirdly, I think Alonso deserves a second chance - he quite clearly lost the plot completely last year, whatever part you think McLaren, Ferrari, Hamilton or anyone else had in the whole 'episode'. If next season he seems much more like the scruffy-haired, 'wacky' hat-wearing Fernando of old, perhaps it would be decent of us to take an attitude of "ok, let's just sort of pretend you didn't go completely mental in 2007". Also, it would be great - should that turn out to be the case - if people could refrain from saying things like, "ha, I told you McLaren were favouring that spawn of satan Lewis Hamilton".

That the sort of thing I meant, rather than making historical references for the sake of siting precedence. Fnar. biggrin
