i finally gave up on f1 this weekend when i read that Bernie has decided the Austrailians would either have to organise a night race or lose the race, purely in order to satisfy the european tv audiences. well i have probably watched 20 australian gps now, getting up at all sorts of hours to enjoy it so how about the poison dwarf actually asks our opinion!?!?! the whole thing is rotten to the core.

Dreary for a MGP race perhaps. Still had more actual, on track, overtaking in 22 laps than will no doubt be seen in the entire 2008 F1 season....

I agree.If Bernie is so concerned about the Europeans, why does he want to take European races away and move them to 'new' world countries?

He'd be better to admit this is his real reason, like Lewis Hamilton eventually did about his move to Switzerland.
precisely, he's keen to see the back of european races like silverstone, magny cours, he probably doesn't even care about spa, instead he's chasing the money in abu dhabi, russia, india etc. but there's bugger motor racing core there, no-one will actually come to the circuit to watch (for example, bahrain is deserted on friday practise, and even for qualy hardly anyone turns up), he's pissed off north america (the other big supporter of motor racing), so wants schedules to coincide with a nice afternoon race for europe... idiot

and yes, it was all at night but you barely noticed given the floodlights so what was the point really? its hardly the mulsanne at 4am.
i just dont like bernies bullying tactics to scare people into toeing the line. as far as i am aware, nobody at qatar was bullied into runing the race at night or risk losing it. sports have to try new things (like the premier league touting this 39th game idea) but bernies tactics are disgusting and only serve the commercial greeed of the sport.

Are you saying that the fact that you are willing to watch the Australian Grand Prix early in the morning is proof that the TV audience wouldn't be bigger if it was a night race?Get Karter said:

Greed in this case is just the desire to make money, something that most people have. In some that desire may be stronger and it's those people who will inevitably be more successful and end up in positions of control. I don't deny that is the case. No doubt some people in Australia would be pretty annoyed if their Grand Prix had to take place at night.
