My life Insurance company are not being very generous on their quotes to cover me for motor sports.

any recomendations of comapanies that you guys use? I dont plan on killing myself ( or anyone else for that matter! ) but this whole Heather Mills thing got Mrs Obiwonkeyblokey thinking.

Thanks
O

You don't smoke, you don't drink, you don't motor race, you don't even know where the circuits are!

. . . Graham have you let them know then? . . . if not I suggest you do as it's a significant and material change in risk . . . the last thing you'd want is hassle for you/your family if settlement was required (perish the thought!) biggrin

Sorry to bounce this, but with the first race only 2 days away Ive been quoted 2k for life and accident cover for this year - seems steep, maybe they have seen me drive? biggrin

anyway - does anyone else have racing specific personal insurance? and if so what are you paying?

thanks

£2k does sound a lot (although I guess it depends how much cover you are buying). Recent events suggest that flying in a private aircraft carries a greater risk than racing, but that doesn't help you if the underwriters don't see it that way. Deaths are so rare in motorsport these days.

Try looking on the Motor Sports Association website, or contacting specialist insurers such as Egger Lawson, TBH Clowes etc - there will be other names in the back of Autosport.

In the meantime I think I will check the exclusions of my life policy!

Exactly. Tooling around in the Griff isn't going to increase their risk that much
