Should Lewis and the other 3 drivers join the GPDA?

Simple question really open to discussion...

Jackie Stewart has criticised Lewis for not wishing to join, Lewis say's he too busy to offer his time to the GPDA.

My thoughts are if it was good enough for Schumacher, why can't Lewis find it in himself to join?

By the time Schuy joined he had a number of championships and many years of F1 experience behind him. Lewis should join, but perhaps he should wait a few more seasons.

Yes he should - getting respect from colleague drivers as a person as well as a driver is what Stewart and Senna managed but Shuey never really did even though he was a member. He can obviously drive, and will be a champion at some point. Why not try to become a leader in your sport too?

Why should he (or anyone) be bullied into joining any union?

Surely it's behaviour like this that the 'union' should be stamping out.

However, Lewis should just come out and say he doesn't want to join, rather than saying he's not got the time for it.

He said he has NO fear on track and gets a buzz from a crash, he'll end up in trouble... and it's a disrespect to the many drivers killed over the years, go back 15 years and he would have be killed already.... his car has saved him a few times already..

Jackie's contribution to driver and spectator safety is the stuff of legend. His actions have saved many lives. I don't want to say, 'in my day', but I can remember the times when driver deaths were expected. I was shocked when Ratzenberger and Senna were killed in the same event but such tragedy was almost the norm at least a couple of races each season until Jackie's initiatives. He was brilliant, especially when he is, as the FIA upper echelons reckon, a moron. F1 could do with more morons like him. So I can see where he is coming from and sympathise. However, what LH feels he should do is down to LH.
