Vettel to Ferrari (Makes Sense to me)

ever since i saw him first testing in teh BMW i have always really rated vettel and was really surprised that BMW let him go to STR, unless they have the first option on him at the end of that contract (and i think i read that they do)

I know that mclaren were interested in him ahead of heikki so i'm not surprised that ferrari are keen too

He is the future along with LH and Nico and at the front of the Grid.

He definitely is a very worthy contender for Ferrari.

However, both Vettel and Massa have dismissed it during the Thursday press conference. Massa pointed out he is on a three-year contract. Vettel didn't give away any sign of the rumour being true.

Having said that, if STR ends up folding, then I think Ferrari will end Massa's contract early - even bearing some financial loss if necessary - in order to attract Vettel to the spot.

Think Vettel more likley to be at BMW in next 1 - 2 years though.

Yeah, I think BMW owns Vettel for the moment.

As for Fernando, I doubt he will be leaving Renault any time soon, unless they absolutely cannot get anywhere this year. He knows the team very well, and the team know him very well. It's a bit like Schumacher in Ferrari. Alonso will probably bring the team up to speed so that they are at least nipping at the heels of BMW and Williams by the end of this season, and then he'll probably want to gun for another WDC with Renault.

To throw a spanner in the works, I'm keeping half an eye on a young fella called Nico Hulkenberg, a prodigious talent who will most likely get an F1 race seat within the next year or two (he's currently the tester for Williams). Rumour has it that he has close connections with one Michael Schumacher, and perhaps will be invited into Ferrari? Or will Williams switch him with Nakajima?

Vettel is over-hyped. He's certainly a decent driver but would be no better than Massa at Ferrari.

Massa seems to be struggling. I can't see him lasting the season let alone his contract unless he gets to grip with the loss of traction control.

I don't think it's fair to judge him on half of one race! Btw he was actually very close to KR's pace last weekend, closer than Kovalainen was to Hamilton, for example.

I think he relied on it more than many F1 drivers. Can't post a link sadly, but I recall watching Massa's first lap onboard at Monza last year. Absolutely wild steering corrections.

I reckon Kimi's class will shine against Massa to a far greater extent this season.

I take you point. But there were strong rumours of him having problems in testing, off season being more off for him than one would expect. That said, I suppose testing is the time to test limits. We have to wait and see.

I would suspect that these rumours doing the rounds about him being replaced next year were started deliberately by ferrari briefing against him.
