i looked in the blue book & it said white rectangle black letters at certain sizes which is great except being told the numbers for class b&c are the same as last year, when you look at the cars from last year there is:
1) yellow circles / black numbers
2) blue circles / black numbers
3) white circles / black numbers
4) yellow squares / black numbers
5) red number just on a yellow car (thorpedo)
i am a little confused?
can anybody help as i want to make the numbers before race day!

Ok here goes... You can have either circles or squares for the backgrounds.

Class A

White square/circle with black numbers for non aero cars i.e. standard tuscans
black square/circle with white numbers for all other cars.

Class B

Yellow circle/square with black numbers

Class C

blue Square/circle with black numbers

cheers

You could probably get away with out it, or maybe just put an outline of a circle / square on in black insulation tape...

either that or ten mins work for someone with a vinyl cutter to cut a circle for you whistle
