In Thailand at the moment but have heard the news of David's sad demise along with Richard Lloyd.

Very much a Britcar regular he and his team mate Hary Handkammer set the standard pretty much from the outset and were still the team to beat taking outright victory at the most recent Silverstone event.

A lovely guy, happy to have a chat & in no way above himself despite his obvious talent, a very modest man.

I was only talking to him the other day in our garage.

All our thoughts at 911virgin go to both David's family and Harry. No doubt James will say a few words at Snetterton.

Always competitive and nearly always right at the front in the GTS M3, David Leslie was one of the drivers whose name I looked forward to seeing on the entry list. He will be sorely missed by me and also the Britcar community, I've no doubt.

Well Said Henry.......i just wanted to put a note on the forum from us all here at Britcar to say that David Leslie was "one of the best" and a huge supporter of James and I.

Also we must talk about Richard Lloyd and his huge roll in British Motorsport.....

They both will be missed dreadfully by all their friends and other competitors in the pit lane.....in honour we will have a minutes silence before the start of the next round of the Championship 20th April at Snetterton.

We would like to send out our thoughts and prayers to both families at this terrible time.

What a sad day for everyone in motorsport. I echo Henry's comments. David was always the benchmark in Britcar,and we could only aspire to his pace and his professionalism when he was in and out of the car. He was a true gent and my heart goes out to all the family and friends of those who lost their lives in that tragic flight.

Unbelievable news.

I remember many moons ago when I used to marshal at Donno...

It was at the end of a looooong day of the BTCC and as I was leaving the circuit via the paddock I saw him loading some framed pics he had been presented during the day in to a Nissan Skyline R34GTR (nice company car ) and I stopped to chat with him. He didnt seem to be in any rush to get away and propped himself against the car to have a natter and also said thanks for standing outside all day to dig people out of the gravel/tyres.

I got him to sign my overalls and left with a smile.

An absolute gent!!

Still in Thailand at the moment but have seen the news that James has arranged for all the cars and drivers to be on the grid for a minute's silence prior to snetterton. Absolutely the right thing to do and I'm sure I speak for all the teams.

I also hope Stuart can find it inside to carry on in at least some of the rounds with the jaguar. I know Stuart well having competed against him in a Porsche. I did try to email via his website but the link wasn't working. As such could I use this forum to say we'd love to see you out again, I'm sure Richard, David and Chris would have wanted you to continue and the britcar paddock will support you.

I hope I'm not talking out of turn in speaking for "everyone" but I would imagine we all feel a little bit of 'there but for the grace of god go I'. I saw Stuart posted up a piece on his site and have wanted to pass on a message since.

Even over here the news had an impact and I've seen at least one international television report on the matter. I can imagine a mixed bag of emotions as to whether or not you carry on. On the one hand you just want to pack up and go home, on the other hand you want to carry on in the memory of those no longer with us but part of you must worry what people will think if you carry on, do they think you don't care. I for one know how deeply it will have affected Stuart and know that any return will be right, proper and with full respect to people and memories.

I look forward to seeing both you and the jag out again Stuart.

Once again sorry if this comes accross as in any way inappropriate but I hope our little corner of pistonheads is very much one big family given we all know each other.

Henry, I spoke with Stuart earlier this week and i understand the Funerals are Wednesday as is a 'Celebration of Richard's Life' at Silverstone Wednesday afternoon.
Stuart did say he will be at Snetterton at the weekend and i hope he can get a podium for his missing race partners!

The APEX team had the Jags out at Silverstone in GT3 at the weekend, hats off to them for continuing but I am sure those taken in such tragic circumstances would have wanted nothing less.

It would be nice if an award could be given out at the 24hr race as a tribute to those that have sadly passed away, given the involvment they have had with EERC over the years. Just a thought, I dont know what it could be for - fastest lap maybe.

I would like to thank everyone for all their kind words. The last few weeks have been very difficult for everyone at Apex Motorsport but we will be back racing this weekend with Britcar at Brands Hatch. The team were at Silverstone last weekend for the first round of the FIA GT3 Championship and progress has been made during the winter with the cars. Sorry we couldn't be with you all at Snetterton but a big thankyou to Britcar for the tribute you gave Richard and David.
Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.
