Thats from about 3-4 years ago. Its no longer called that as the Tuscan Challenge as it once was no longer exists.

although I can see that perhaps the forum name would need to be addressed!

I think we still have to use Dunlop tyres.
Also I think we are keeping the Dunlop bit but dropping the Tuscan Bit.

I think it now called.
Dunlop TVR European Challenge.

So if DUNLOP are the sponsor and we are required to have there name on the screen, what are WE getting out of it ? or is it just JR who is????

It may be part of the BRSCC deal, which get us the tracks.

Its quite simple. Dunlop don't turn up to each circuit because experience has told them that since the end of 2004, competitors in this series buy insufficient tyres to warrant the cost of sending 2 or 3 blokes, a truck and equipment to the circuit. In this case it is HP Tyres rather than Dunlop themselves.

This year grids may be bigger and more people may buy tyres more frequently, but I don't think you can argue with history. How many people bought tyres at Rockingham last year when they attended?

People talk of how many meetings can I make a set of tyres last - and there is nothing wrong with that - but don't expect on-circuit service unless the majority are buying a new set per meeting.

You can always fk off to a series which runs avon tyres?

I'll admit that I've no idea on the deal with Dunlop ( probably because I havent asked) But I expect they are putting something into the series.

They certainly add negotiating weight....

AS for the dates, I dont think we've got the crap that was left we've got just about exactly what was asked for

1) double headers - Check
2) number of meetings - Check
3) Circuits - Check
4) well spaced meetings - Check

As for the dates not being confirmed. Yes they are thats why the Entry packs with the published dates were sent out...

THe only reason they stayed provisional was because negotiations over the single header at Brands and could it be changed to a double.

I've also no details on Dunlop comming to meetings, but as Andy says thats pure Economics. If we turn out in sufficient numbers and buy enough Tyres they'll be there.

Most of my mates in other series are running on single make tyres and very few of them have any tyre support at all.

So see you all at the circuit

Talking to John about this, he stays with Dunlop as the series always ran Dunlop. He knows that the tyres are safe (even for the fastest Tuscans/GTFs) and that the sizes/tech support are readily available.

As the series grows, there a good chance of full support returning, but as G & A say, ATM we don't buy enough tyres for the Support vehicle to be worthwhile...not even close.

Anyway, thats why we run Dunlop. John has no kickback...its just history. We were VERY close to doing a deal with another manufacturer for this year but lack of Telly and the coming financial Crunch meant that they played it safe and backed off...for this year. But I'd guess that a full tyre support package will be about soon, maybe 09.

So for the moment its status quo. Dunlop, which is after all, the biggest name in Motorsport as far as Tyres are concerned. So it does no harm to have them assocaited with us.

Chevy454 Maybe you should introduce yourself before asking questions.
Looks like your using a fake name to hide who you are.
