What a great season that was, thanks for posting. I remember feeling totally gutted seeing Senna stopping on the last lap. The early 90s were beautiful times for good-looking racing cars; the MP4/6 is my favourite of all time. I really hope that the new F1 regs will mean cars become good looking again.
Re Mansell/Senna etc - is it just my rose-tinted specs or has 'character' gone out of F1 racing?

I doubt that the character has gone. The problem is that the characters and their character must pass through the suffocating and santizing/sterilizing pitlane of PR departments, PR officers, media editors, etc, before reaching the general public. In those days it was common practice to pick up anyone out on the circuit on your slowing down lap, mainly because there was not the camera coverage so pits were not always aware of where people were, and pit bikes were things that the kids played on,more impressive was the ability of competitors to stop and help when people had a bad "off",S.M.B.H and Clay Regazzoni,David Purley and Roger Williamson.I think the racing was closer (first five Italian G.P. 0.61 seconds between 1st and 5th)and so were the drivers.(Old Git Mode Off) Tempus
