Friday the 2nd doesn't look like a test day to me, there is only one 50min session for Britcar and it's clearly marked as "free practice" which would indicate that it is part of the very hefty race fee that we are being asked to pay.
If this is the case then the size of the race fee makes a little more sense, so what is the additional "testing" fee for?? I've asked Britcar to explain this as on a normal testing days we get 3 or 4 sessions and a bit of track time.
Any one know or has heard what the deal is here?

I don't think you are right about the Thursday, in fact I have just spoken to James Tucker and he has confirmed that the "testday" IS on the friday and that we only have the one 50min session. I questioned the fee of £400 and he stated that this was correct despite the wording of "free Practice" on the timetable and the fact that other series are qualifying on the same day. On this basis, it is logical to assume that some of the series competing at the weekend have to do and pay for the test day otherwise they will miss qualifying. It still sounds very strange to me but the problem is apparently with Motorsport Vision and JP as they are charging James/Britcar as a test day. Add the £1695 race fee and 3 full days of support and we have ourselves a bloody expensive weekend. On top of this, we only get 8 team tickets in the package and that just covers the prep team, drivers etc, so if we have any guests, we have to buy extra tickets at about £30 each.
Still, If we want to race in front of a fair sized crowd of motorsport fans and get some TV coverage for sponsors, that's the price we have to pay or so it seems.
For those that raced at Snetterton over the weekend, reality check. Although the Britcar race was fantastic, the other three races had 13, 12 & 4 cars in them - but we kept the couple of dozen people there entertained!
It was a very long three days & lacking somewhat in excitment.
The chance to race on the premier race programme at Brands this year, in front of many thousands of people, and enjoying Sky TV coverage and mixing / showing off to all - should be one of the highlights of our season. If like us, you are using the weekend to invite sponsors, friends, family & supporters, what an unmissable opportunity.
Weekends like this must surely be why most of us / you are racing (in Britcar). Obviously JT would have little sway over JP and the A1 GP bandwagon - the Friday session is exactly the same as last year. If you want to sve £400, don't take part in the practise.
So lets get behind all involved, and demostrate to the thousands just how fantastic the Britcar show is. Its great to have this opportunity - lets make the most of it!!

Agree wholeheartedly with what you say Andy, and I'm sure we will all enjoy it immensely, my point was that the Friday is not a test day as we know it. The more straight forward way of looking at it is to state that the race fee for the event in Britcar is £2095 per team car to include a 50 min "Free practice" session on the Friday.
I hope I'm not coming across as being pedantic as that is not my intention, what we pay is what we pay, I just thought that it was mildly misleading to call it a test day when in real terms, it is for some, part of the weekend program. Some of the other series that are racing that weekend don't have any "free practice" so no doubt their fees are less then ours, we should perhaps be grateful that JT had enough sway to negotiate the extra time. The cost is secondary to my point, it's the way it was portrayed

Ouch, I can feel it already, we looked at the G50, quite taken by it !!! now, where's that Porsche supercharger button 
I agree with most of the comments, I have always competed in the A1 GP support race (always been great weather too !!!) The TV coverage last year was great, but i would say that, there was loads of coverage of me driving Nigel Stephens E30 M3 ahead of the Mistral M3 !!!
Lets hope its a great weekend, despite the costs !!!

Yes mate, all paid up and looking forward to it. Just heard that access for team set up is Thursday only, so our plan to save some pennies and pitch up on Friday morning goes out the window as they have said if your not there by Thursday you won't get in Lets hope its a great weekend, despite the costs !!!

Just adding up the sums, that's 4 days support, race fees, fuel, tyres, parts, spares etc, don't know about the rest of you chaps but I'm way passed 6K and look like nudging 8k by the Sunday evening, mind you that does include curry for 10 with poppadoms and a few gallons of Kingfisher on the way home
Rod, I understand completely your point about costs. And Britcar needs more like you - like ourselves you are racing 'for fun' & I hope the weekend brings you success ....... behind the G50 !!

I too wish you every success, just behind us would be about right as I prefer the front view of the G50, it looks good in my mirrors
but I wasn't joking about the supercharger, it's not so much a part, more of a person, well, driver really, 
so that's me, Jan, and ............................opps!!!All will be revealed soon

I wouldn't go back to BGT now, for several reasons, not the least of which are the Avon tyres they force you to use. The 996 didn't take to them very well and nor did we, but as soon as we booted it with Dunlops it was a different car, much better all round !!! Maybe we should go back to BGT !!! entries etc are loads cheaper. Just need a £200k Ferrari or similar...
As to the other reasons, I won't go into them on here, but as you raced in the series with us, I'm sure you know what I am eluding too
Thanks for the latest info on set up times, that will save a few quid, we will get there at 20.59
