Is Alonso employable?

I've been reading with interest that Alonso is not happy with Renault (after just 3 races!) and that he wants to race for a team that can provide him with a winning car.
Who would want to risk employing him after this weeks 'contracts can flexible, look at last year' comment?
Ferrari appear to have ruled him out already, so what is a two time champion to do?

Errr....He's double world champ and beaten Michael Schumacher - who was still in his prime. Yes Alonso has done some nasty things but at the end of the day (season) its results that count and Alonso delivers.
No driver is perfect these days.
Ferrari are happy with Kimi and Massa. Kimi could easily be #1 driver if he put his mind and effort into it.
Would love to see Alonso driving for BMW. He probably would've scored a win in Bahrain.

1. Talking himself out of arguably last years best car.
2. Not getting on with job, when he was up against novice.
3. Disrespecting his team by last year stating he was worth .6 secs to any car. (you might well think that of yourself, but rubbing everyones elses nose in it is hardly diplomatic)
4. Now critising Renault's performance this year, and stating that no contract is bullit proof.
5. Rubbing Flav's nose in the mud by stating that the same teams i.e Williams, BMW, Toyota(?!) and Ferrari will always be at the top.
Now he quite rightly may well be driving the nuts off of this years Renault, but has he added .6 secs to Fisi's times?
My point is, he's going the right way of talking himself out of another drive this year, and then where will he be? He's too good to go the way of Villeneuve and Montoya after all. And now Ferrari have said they don't want him.
Alonso may have an abundance of driving talent but I should imagine for a team he is probably very undesirable. He probably takes more vehicle performance out by killing team morale than he puts in from his driving talent.
He'd have to lower his price to get a good drive and I think his ego is so big that he will be retiring from F1 at a very early age.
Indy may take him but at Indy prices, not F1 ex-world champion prices.

He would be the ultimate test driver. The 6 th's claim is a bit much but even Ron said he brought something tangible to the cars devlopment. It's sad to see him acting like a child cause im a big fan of his driving, if he would just do that and keep his mouth shut he would be in a potential race winning car and not have everyone hate him

Look how Lewis is failing this year, his teammate is beating him also, last year he had TC and FA setup data and he's hardly a novice is he....

dont forget Todt Sr is top dog at Ferrai, Todt Jr is manager of Massa. Todt Sr wants the best drivers at the, Todt Jr wants a good drive for his man. Massa isnt going to be world champion with Kimi and Lewis around and Todt Jr kows it so best to get him into a renault or something reasonably competitive in 09 and let Dad have Alonso and Kimi fight it out in ferraris with Lewis in the McLaren.
the rumours started before alonso left mclaren and he made it clear without actually saying it that he would only join a team on a one year contract or with an option at the end of the first year. understandably, not many teams wanted to touch him with those sort of conditions so he was left with renault who welcomed him back with open arms. the teams with places for alonso in 08 were few and far between, so renault were also a good option as kova was off to McLaren.
all this from a friend whose ex-girlfriend knows a bloke whose son has this mate knows a guy who washes windows at a technology centre in Woking.... or something like that! seriously, if you read into the stories at the end of last year, his plans to secure a move to ferrari in 09 were quite clear. i dont have a special source, i just did some hypothetical "what ifs?". i might be way off the mark but if Alonso is announced as a Ferrari driver in 2009 i want you all to say "elementary my dear!"

First of all, Heikki and Lewis are equal on points, so that blows you assertion that his team mate is beating him out of the water straight away.
Also, cocked up pit stops and collisions (only one of which was his fault) have hardly meant he's been able to race to his full potential. Let's wait until more than three of this year's eighteen races have passed before Lewis' 2008 season is branded a failure shall we.
On the subject of Fernando's employability - of course he's employable, he's still one of the best drivers on the grid and clauses like 'keep your gob shut' are very easy to write into contracts.
