BTCC Doninngton
Discussion
Was just wandering if people could let me know what they have thought on visits to a touring car event. I've never been and would like to take my dad out for the day, i have seen the time table of races and the day seems hectic but definately seems worth the money. Doninngtons the most local circuit to myself and also is the next race on May 3rd/4th.
There's some good banger racing on the schedule. All manufacturer backed.
It'll be busy in the stands, not sure if they fleece you for more money to sit in the grandstands, but the permanent stand at the beginning of the pitlane is a good viewing point - you can see the cars as they come down from Coppice to Goddard (if they're using the National Circuit), and the usual optimistic late braking passing attempts (using the car ahead as brakes). Then you can see down to Redgate, plus the going on in the pits.
Seats are good, though a little depleted in their numbers. The Clio's are great too.
They used to have the "Heritiage Touring Cars" as part of the package, which at times were better than the BTCC - BIG V8's bellowing around!!
Have a great day. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Hopefully you're dad will too.

Thanks for the replies, i have bought the tickets yesterday. The grandstand seats were an extra £10 but i opted to get standard tickets as only pit straight was available. Im looking forward to the formula renault racing aswell, all in all it seems great value for money considering what the grand prixs costing at silverstone. Looking forward to it.

I do believe those chaps are supporting A1GP this weekend at Brands. Probably the most enjoyable racing series in the country IMHO.As for Donington..get there early. The access isn't very clever and the traffic can be a nightmare.
Enjoy yourself

There is a Masters Top Hat event on Monday, with the historic V8 touring cars on the bill. http://www.themastersseries.com/resources/TH_DonP_...

Good shout
Looks like a fun day without the BTCC crowds. I may well take the camera to Donington

Just got back from the race, it was a great day out. Decided to walk the circuit a few times but stayed at the s bend most of the race. Did anyone else see the super league formula car? Its apparenlty not limited to the 19000 rmp that formula one cars are, but just didn't seem to have the power of the V12 engine it boasts. Maybe he wasn't driving it fully or just the fact that donnington isn't a fast circuit.

Yes I was there , I saw that super league car and thought the same, it sounded fantastic but didnt seem that quick watching it accelerate. Forums | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
