A terrible weekend - still have vivid memories of all 3 incidents
Ruben's had a terrible accident that weekend as well.

On Facebook, underneath your name is a box where you can write messages based on what you're doing. To tell your mates, although I generally use it as a chance to be droll. Anyway...

It used to be Such and Such is... so you'd have Such and Such is making a sandwich; is having a wank; is bored etc etc.

Now it's just Such and Such... so you can just write anything you like under there.

14 years.... remember it like yesterday, was 16 at the time and still have the Evening Mail story on it.

14 years sure does fly, still sends a shiver down my spine and was completely stunned into shock at the time.

I can watch clips on youtube on senna for hours, I was eleven at the time but still remember the day.
As racing drivers go, We won't see another one like him, and im glad i was old enough to see the genius at work. Its a damn shame where f1 used to be and what it has become today.

I remember that weekend like it was yesterday, i was building a racecar with a friend whilst the TV was on, time certainly is passing by quickly. RIP Roland and Ayrton.

The whole day is pretty vivid in my memory; I'd go to watch the GP over at a mates place, but was delayed heading out, and was listening to the coverage on the radio on the way over. Sent chills down my spine then, and it still does.

RIP to one of the greatest race drivers (and personalities) of all time. And its a crying shame that RR never had a chance to truly show his ability.

I was watching this with my now late step father ... the last GP we watched together. As a huge Senna fan I was left with a strange feeling that day.

What is good is that the the circuit still remembers both Ayrton and Roland. Both have seperate memorials near to their accident sites.

I also find it a little strange watching a Maclaren racing with the yellow lid of Lewis at the helm ... his colours are very close to the famous yellow lid of Senna.

The other good news is that the cars are so much safer as Heiki found out in Spain. If the changes to the aero packages next year bring back more ofthe old style racing, together with todays higher safety, then next season should be well worth watching.

I think you'll find Lewis was a huge fan of Ayrton. If i'm not mistaken he has the yellow as a tribute to the great man.
Again I think like everyone, I really cant belive it's been 14yrs. Still remember where I was and what I had been doing, I was 16 and on a weekend break at buttlins with friends. I had left the others and gone back to our challet specifficly to watch the race. The rest of the afternoon was a bit blurred as I couldn't quite belive what had happened.

I kinda missed out on Senna in some ways - I was too young to appreciate the technical mastery that I can now that I'm a bit older and wiser.

Yeah, he was an absolute joy to watch in Spain - the onboard stuff was incredible... he has that effortless precision that just isn't there when you watch people like Massa, for example.

Incidentally, I think the yellow lid thing was so that his dad could keep track of him while he was karting. I guess he may have chosen yellow as the bright colour because of Senna though.
