Why not give pole position driver the choice of starting from pole or, receive 4 points for pole but start in 11th place?
If a driver was 11 points off the lead for the championship, the driver could start from 11th and try and win the race. 12 points in total.
Certainly would change the dynamics of the race.

Its an idea! - would the chance of a midfield pile up be worth the extra 4 point gamble?
I'd just like to see manual gearboxes and no refueling, I can still just about remember drivers pushing their empty cars over the line. but those days are long gone.

He and the team made their own decision to carry on, not for the sake of a rules limitation, but because he was leading, but not by a big enough gap to cover the time lost for a pit stop. When the damaged tyre caused the suspension to break, he had less than one full lap remaining before the chequered flag.
It was my impression at the time that the "one-tyre" rule was intended to be a politically-correct, money-saving measure, with the added possibility that it could mix up a race. Without the ability to get fresh rubber, a driver had to take better care of his tyres for the duration. He who failed to do so suffered, he who succeeded got a benefit.
I hope the new rules for next year improve things, but the simple solution in my view is to eliminate tyre changes except in the case of a puncture (or similar for safety reasons) and no refuelling during the race after qualifying with whatever fuel level the team choose. That way the set up would always be a slight compromise between full load/fresh tyres and light load/worn tyres meaning different strategies would come into play on the track rather than in the pits, and would reward driver mechanical sympathy. I know this sounds like going back to the past when F1 should be progressive, but I want to see racing on the track and I think this would do that.

There has been nothing remotely progressive about the changes to F1.Nothing wrong in suggesting a return to actual racing instead of the current, artificial spectacle.

1/Spoked wheels
2/Men in white boiler suits with flat caps unfastening the wheels with a mallet.
3/The above men filling the cars with a funnel and 12 jerry cans.
4/Solid tyres.
5/All load bearing stuctures made from ash (thats a type of wood).
6/Ignition timing adjusted by a lever on the steering wheel.
7/Manual gearbox.
8/5000rpm rev limit (enforced by the use of a mandatory 7 litre yank V8).
9/Carburettors(cant have any electronics can we).
