Bernie - this is what you get when you start moving large motor sport events to parts of the world where such events are not part of the culture. I'm not saying that no animal has ever made it onto a European circuit but I can't think of any incident in the past 30 years at a GP week-end involving an animal.

Rude-boy specifically mentioned Silverstone. I was just wondering when a car hit a "dog" (not a deer, rabbits, ground-hog or any other wild animal) at Silverstone (not Austria - which doesn't host GPs anymore - and probably never will again - sadly).

This thread seems to be from 2002 but I remember as a wee lad sitting in the club watching one GP in the 1990's when someone struck harry the Hare as well.

Fairly regular thing, although it seems to be a little less so these days.

I would expect that hares actually live in the Silverstone infield area. They are very common at airports for instance.

A dog is another matter and in most developed countries they are required by law to be controlled. I don't recall there being a similar law for hares - or other wild fauna.
