Has anyone had any dealings with Mallory Park in the past regarding ticket sales.
I attended a meeting on monday and didnt get the complimentary tickets that a freind had to let me in, he was practising and therefore unable to meet myself.I asked if i could go and get the tickets and return with them happily to leave the £24.00, the person at the gate said they only let people in who pay regardless if they have a ticket i the Paddock. I said could i get a refund from the office when i had the comp tickets the person said yes i handed over £24.00 and they told me the office was shut.
I phoned them today they said they dont give refunds, but do tell people they can appy to the office for refunds??!! dont know how that works? The person kept on saying that although i did have tickets in the paddock so to speak they were of no use, basicaly splitting hairs.
The person i spoke to didnt seem to have any customer relation clues even though i put my point across reasonably. I have never met anyone in charge at a circuit that was so unhelpfull and unwilling to come to a decent conculsion other than thats the circuits rules.
How can they expect people to support motorsport at club level with this sport of attitude, i made a 800 mile round trip stayed in the local hotel ate at a local resturaunt filled the car up at the local petrol statoin bought a load goods from the small shop in Kirky Mallory, this is all support and business for the local community and to be met with such negative, uncooperative, unreasonable people really gets on my wick.
Its not the £24.00 im worried about its the principle of it all not to mention questionable business sense.
Why is the customer always wrong these days! I can safely say that due to this experience i will no longer be racing at Mallory Park or even supporting freinds who do at this particular track, all for £24.00.

But you weren't supporting the circuit, were you? The local shops and services, but the entry fee for the circuit, you weren't going to pay as you had complimentary tickets. Hardly fair on the circuit, is it? If you were that desperate not to spend 24 quid, why didn't you wait until your friend had finished practice so he could bring them out to you?How dare a circuit charge you for entry when you have perfectly good tickets inside the track?! Anyone could say that, couldn't they? Are they meant to just let anyone in on that basis?
The circuit is there as a business, it's business is to host races and events and charge people an entry fee who may want to go and take a look.
I also have a friend who occasionally supplies me with "freebies". I tend to arrive at a time when i know he will be free to meet me and hand over said freebies, which in no way support the circuit as no-one has paid for them 
If there was an occasion when he was unable to meet me, i'd get my wallet out and pay.

If you have a ticket you get in, if not you have to pay. Why should they give you back the cash when you go and get on from a competitor.
My 4 tickets got me and father in and some mates had the spare two and they were taken to people outside the track and handed over and presume they got in (before 11 o'clock only at Mallory).

If you get a ticket from a competitor ouside the track - then this has been paid for with money via the competitor. The Competitor has paid the organising club who have rented the track for a fee to hold the meeting.

You may be missing the point here. The competitor as you say had paid for the tickets in an indirect sort of way, so you could say the tickets had been paid for twice if this is the case once by the competitor and once again by myself. The reason for not waiting as i said was that he was in practice and i wanted to see how the car was handling.
The supporting of areas apart from the track was an example of how business is brought to areas, i wonder how local business would feel about it if Mallory Park ceased to exist, would they loose a lot of business.......i think so, Mallory Park has a big influence on these businesses, the local hotel at hinkley has a "triumph bar" this has got to be to appeal to the motorsports fans and competitors.
Yes hindsight is a beautiful thing perhaps the tickets should have been left, perhaps i could have go them posted to me beforehand. Great as an afterthought.

I had a similar problem a few years ago, left some tickets on the gate for some friends who'd travelled a long way. Someone else took over and wouldn't even look inside the hut for them - computer says no! 
Only a sample of two and hopefully not representative of others experiences as Mallory is the self styled "Friendly Circuit" bit it did leave me p*sed of and embarresed!

I had a bit of annoyance at Mallory when I was there to collect an axle off a friend. He was competing and I wasn't. After his race we were told they would be opening the gate to let some of the competitors out so I drove out of the car park to meet him. They then didn't let them out for twenty minutes so I politely asked the chap on the gate whether he knew when it would be opened, and he would only state 'when all the racing stops' and he wouldn't ask anyone. They did let people out about ten minutes later.
Anyway, not really a problem, I just didn't particularly understand the chap's attitude as he was very stand-offish from the start trying to ignore me saying hello!
I see you've had the same experience regarding the odd attitude of the staff, but this time I feel that you should have either been there earlier or waited for your friend to finish practise and bring them over. I can't see how the circuit can find out now whether the tickets you send in for refund have been used or not.
I've not yet raced at Mallory myself, so haven't any huge experience of the organisational staff, but the staff and food at their cafe/bar place are top class I think.

Yes, it was a good days racing and these days £12 each is a cheap day out. It has to be the best circuit for viewing with the added bonus of being able view from your car - always useful when taking a two year old to his first event. On Monday the wind nearly blew him away on several occasions.
Thought the drivers did well to cope with the changeable conditions.
Back on topic. The OP should have timed it to arrive BEFORE his friend was due on track, or waited for someone to bring the tickets over to him.
When I was involved in racing I often picked up tickets left on the gate for me to collect or made a quick call as I arrived at the circuit and waited for someone to bring them out for me.
Easy, all it takes is a bit of organisation and communication.
Thought the drivers did well to cope with the changeable conditions.

Last time I looked Mallory Park was still in the UK, which seems to be the home of useless, unhelpful, don't give a sh*t staff. You can either get wound up and stressed by them or not, your choice.jellison said:

It's the first event I have been to for years. I have kept my distance since I stopped my involvement in racing, but still keep thinking I should have another go.

I have only ever done one proper trackday (as don't see the point as I race) but that was at Mallory too in the pissing rain in my Bonkers Chim.
Great little track - hope the top 5 and 6 guys there next year for this race.
