Looks like we'll miss Brands as I can't find an available 4.5 to slot in at sensible money so Andy will rebuild the engine that went clunk at Snetterton but this will obviously take time and we don't know how much damage was done yet.

Should be out in the GT Cup in August and September TVR at Brands if something else doesn't come up!

Cheers

I call c £3k as reasonable the others are more than a full rebuild so just bonkers! But these, the £3k ones, have all gone!

I can't justify taking a chance on an unknown engine for more than £3k!

certainly not worth gambling 3k+ on an unknown motor.. If your going to race it, It needs a strip down and rebuild to avoid

a) blowing up the motor
b) blowing up the motor and stuffing the car on the oil
C) blowing up the motor and someone else stuffing their car on the oil...

Better to be safe and Solvent and be able to come back next year !!!

I am sorry that you won't be out for a while John. The engines are getting harder to get hold of at reasonable money. I would say that circa £3K for one needing a rebuild is about right. The parts aren't cheap and there can be a lot more of them required than you first think. It is getting more and more important to have a spare motor. Hope to see you when the rebuild is finished.

Hugh, now that I don't have to keep myself pure and thin ready for an iminent race, we need to arrange the lunch with Robert! I'll get sorting a date! Cheers John

one in the tvr parts classified section on here at the moment!!
buy that and race it while fixing the other one then sell it after that,
shouldn't lose too much as long as you don't blow that up aswell!

Tried that one, sold, they are pulling it out of the car on the weekend.

Shame as that was the plan, I have a billetted crank, Carrillo rods, polished heads etc for the new engine, we just hadn't got round to building it as we thought the current engine had a bit more life in it after the power testing at the GT Cup at Donnington!!

I have one for sale in the classified, Andy was gonna purchase it, I think for your car - if you want it, make me an offer.

Big thanks to all of you who have come to my assistance, both the overt and the covert (off-line) people, really appreciated that there is alot of support in the moments of commercial reflection!

I have had a long think and Andy is going to rebuild the engine, which wasn't one of his by the way!

I'm going billetted crank and carillos to make sure that this doesn't happen again!

See you all in September, if not before!

Cheers

John
