Is anyone else getting totally hacked off with the ridiculously bad coverage ITV F1 are giving us at the moment?
I'm fed up to the back teeth with having to sit through AN HOUR of inane drivel before the race starts and only getting a measly 10-15 minutes of post-race coverage. Today was a case in point, as...
(i) The slowing down lap was interrupted by a commercial.
(ii) We didn't get to hear everything Kubica had to say.
(iii) We didn't get to hear ANY of what Heidfeld or (even more importantly) DC had to say.
I'd almost be okay with having to listen to James Allen if they'd make even a half-arsed attempt to cover the race properly, i.e. by moving their scheduling so that there is half an hour of build-up to the race, to allow enough time for covering the post-race reaction properly.

There was also that f'ing ad break in the middle of the battle between Alonso and Heidfeld perfectly timed so that we would miss the drama of Alonso's spinning out.
The pitlane walkabout was just plain embarassing - for God's sake BBC drop it.
Finally, why did James Allen have to insult Kubica with the gag about not being a Brad Pit? Doesn't he have a mirror? Prat

And that was with waiting until 2.30 AM! for a delayed telecast 
The pit lane walkabout was disappointing, but I generally like it - it gives a good sense of the hustle and bustle going on down there, with the engineers working on the cars and the drivers mentally preparing themselves.
It was also very bad that they didn't show the post race interviews - after Monaco they exteneded the program because Hamilton won, but they didn't even show the full interviews this time with Kubica's first win and DC on the podium.
As for adverts interrupting the Alonso-Heidfeld battle, I think that is just unfortunate. Accepting that ITV have to go to adverts every 15 minutes there is always going to be a time that it is inconvenient for the race (something interesting happens). I'm not endorsing the adverts - they are very annoying, but it's just one of those things (for the rest of the season anyway). It was frustrating to come back to James Allen saying "oh and Alonso crashed while you were away, but anyway..."
The things that frustrate me with the coverage is the time it takes them to analyse things - Sutil's mechanincal problem was not mentioned in detail, it took them ages to findout why Massa pitted twice in 2 laps - they have the contacts and people in the pitlane. In some races this year they haven't even mentioned why some people retired.

A fair point - but they make up for no adverts in 45 minutes by pretty much having pure adverts during half-time. In F1 they are never going to do 2 hours without adverts, and if they did then they'd really ruin post/pre-race coverage with adverts. All I'm saying is that there is never a 'good' time to go to adverts during a race.

Heidfeld: They chose to run at periscope depth for much of the race, and managed to torpedo a few allied convoys before returning to La Rochelle for a well earned bottle of French bubbly. (I tell you he is training to be a U-Boat captain! He just needs the chunky sweater and the hat!)
DC: Had a great race, brilliant to be back on the podium, and can't wait to get back to the hotel with his totty for a really good sorting out session.
That should cover it.

Depending on which channel but the exact same thing would definitely happen on BBC1, I have no doubt about it, before going off to BBCi!
It's a prime-time slot and Corrie was the following programme. What pees me off is that they don't use ITV4 for the post-race stuff for the Atlantic races. I remember they've done this once and never again!

Pit lane walkabout.. hmmm good idea but getting less and less drivers willing to participate, it was good to see that MB didn't even attempt to speak to golden balls LH. Maybe he should have been reading what a red light means! And also good that he was big enough to admit his mistake (oh sorry i was dreaming that) I really hope the BBC are more impartial and definately do not employ James Allen!

Err no it will not. The beeb have two free to view channels, so they can use BBC2 for F1 and no one will worry if it over runs and they drop some repeated drivel afterwards.Can you blame them?

However, what really pissed me off today was The Cock again...
Firstly he opologised for Alonso's language when he was speaking to Louise after crashing out. I have Sky+ so I rewound it as I thought his words were fine, and in deed having listened to it several times if was fine - so what the feck was The Cock listening to?
Secondly, at no point did The Cock realise that after the cock-up after Lewis hit Kimi that Kubica was on for the win. I was screaming at the screen for them to realise it!!!!!!!
Thirdly, I thought if anyone should apologise for their langauge then The Cock is the one who should. A historic day in F1, BMW's first win, Poland's First F1 driver to win and at last a great new driver coming to the fore... so what does The Cock have to say on such an important day in F1...

Bizarre! Hacked off with that, myself: Heidfelds body language was great as he sulked in second, and who didnt want to hear DC after his first podium/points from the entire season!? instead, they chose to use the dying minutes of airtime to talk about LH missing a red light.
We come back after an advert break to be treated to the front-end of the safety car. Great.
Then we come back to a replay of Alonso losing it. And we barely saw what happned to Webber (though that may be down to the director, not ITV), either.
