Britcar 24hr Race, who's doing it, or looking for a seat

We are half way towards getting an entry sorted out as we have 3 drivers out of the 6 we need, so if anyone wants to talk about costs etc, please contact me. We intend to rebuild the engine, gearbox etc and replace the major component's so that we can keep our excellent reliability record in place.

It will be a serious attempt and based on our season so far, we feel confident that we can get a very good class finish. Our prep team, as with the normal season, will be Neil Garner performance engineering and they are more then capable of the total support we will need having completed a number of 24hr races.

Who else is trying to get a team together? Can we help one another?

We're just about there. We'll be running with 4 drivers and, with 3 drivers confirmed now, I'm just hoping to be able to confirm the 4th in the next few days.

Planning has started in earnest. The biggest issue would appear, as ever, to be feeding and watering the team and drivers for 4 days. We always find this to be the biggest logistical challenge. Well, we've all got pretty healthy appetites and tend to get thirsty!

Mind you, half of the fun is spending time with the team of guys and enjoying the craic (and a few beers) for a long weekend. Although, I'm afraid that we won't be providing the band this year. 2 years ago, we staged an impromptu concert in the motorhome area and we had a bit of a party. Last year, the band wasn't so well supported, although it was in the Britcar marquee. Maybe we'll have to think of something else to keep us amused on the Friday night...

This is such a great event to take part in and I hope that we're all able to attract a few more participants as well as spectators this year.

If we hear of anyone looking for a drive, we'll point them in this direction as well as to JT & Claire.

Great to hear the prep for 'The Race of the Year' is well under way! Kevin, what are you running this year, Marcos or Ginetta? And Simon, are you racing the Lotus again or something else? I'm sure I saw the green machine from last year in the classifieds a while ago.

As usual Im hunting around trying to put something together with a budget of 4 cans of lager and a cheese sandwich..

We've actually got a reasonable chance of putting something together in a class 4 car. We've got our eye on a car and funding for it (Although not to run it yet) , and an outline on the drivers and the team, I've even reduced my TVR season to try and find some budget !!!


Still a fairly high chance though that I'll end up back on the pit wall for someone or wandering round on the friday with helmet and licence in hand looking for anyone short of a driver...

We're definitely running the Ginetta. The G50 should be at least as a quick as the Marcos, and we're doing lots of work on the car to improve the stint time and the driveability.

If anyone's interested, the Marcos is for sale...

I too am looking for a drive, I was working a dodgy deal with either a Ford Falcon, or a 'Vette.

We have had a long think about entering the Clio. Being a mobile chicane is enough of a pain for 50 mins though, let alone 24 hrs !

I may well be looking for a drive as it looks like Belly is doing the 24hr in Henry's porsche. I am considering running our BMW from last year or maybe look for a seat in someone else's car.........

Well now !! The idea of you in our team appeals, we need another driver who can out pace Henry and Steve That would make 4 of us on both levels

We can even do a deal that allows for a Motorhome as we will need one

I think you'll find that the Ginetta v Porsche battle will be a bit interesting this year. There should be 3 G50s and at least 3 or 4 Porsches in Class 2. I think that we'll all be on different strategies and it should be a fab race.

I reckon that this is going to be the most closely contested class. Really looking forward to it.
