+1, but I've always preffered watching Toby et al for their commentary. Also, one of the best things about the Eurosport coverage is the time they give to Friday practice, qualifying and the 125s and 250s. They show everything! Not to mention the evening repeats.Very dissapointed with this announcement, as I doubt there will be the same level of coverage as Eurosport have given

I think that's a shame, Toby and Julian ae brilliant. Randy M has great incite, not quite the communicator Martin Brundle is, but still an asset. The adverts are annoying though...
I'd be surprised if the BBC showed the 125 and 250s which Eurosport do, which again would be a shame given we've got 3 young Brits in the 125 who will hopefully progress over the coming years.
In F1 racing this week they had Toby down as one of the contenders for the main commentator (i.e. the James Allen role) for F1 in '09 - apparently he's expressed an interest in moving from 2 wheels to 4.

That's the one thing I would like to see - Sky + doesn't do the red button does it?I like watching it on BBC anyway, im not a hardcore week in week out fan, more of a casual watcher so the more casula style suits me.
I don't think it can be recorded because on freeview BBC's interactive channels are 301, 302 and 303. One of those channels is the News Multiscreen and the other two are the interactive ones use for qualifying, extra football etc. On the EPG they don't show their schedules (who knows why?!) and thus the recorders which use the EPG to work out programme times cannot read any and cannot record. I think thats why anyway!!

They are the best motorsport commentary team on TV - absolutely brilliant !If you prefer watching it on the BBC - great. They are currently happy to show it whilst it is popular but how long will that last? For those of us who have been into bike racing for a long time Eurosport's coverage has always been the best for as long as satellite tv has existed.
As has already been said - they cover everything and you can record it! Iplayer is great if you live in the UK and are happy with that level of quality.

Have BBC been confirmed as keeping it long term, or is it just assumed? What with the Beeb getting F1, I wouldnt be suprised if ITV didnt have a go for MotoGP as a cut down motorsport alternative to F1, maybe when the BBC contract runs out (whenever that is).
Personally I prefer the Eurosport coverage despite the ad breaks, I prefer Moody/Ryder/Mamola than the BBC lineup, and they give far broader coverage than the BBC do at the moment with all the practice sessions etc. As mentioned, on the BBC you can currently only watch the 125 and 250 races via the red button which means you can't record it on Sky+, and you can't pause / rewind it when something happens.
