PARKING AT SILVERSTONE

Plannig on going sun for race. the mrs has got me gold tickets. just want to know where is the best place to park and what time should i be there for.

I had similar problem yesterday. Phoned Silverstone and even the Park and Ride tickets had run out.

I disagree i went last year but did not have a parking pass, i got ushered into one of the fields and told to park there. When i told the guy at the gate i had no parking pass he said not to worry were not bothering checking. It was a bit of a free for all, but either way be prepared to park in a field and walk a bit.

Which day was that? The theory is that the road system diverts cars without passes away from the circuit.

Both days, sat and sun. I took the back route from Aylesbury via buckingham. It was a great route, not too much traffic and lovely scenery

I think they have proper car stickers for the P&R this year which makes it a bit more difficult to blag your way in!

Shouldn't really make much difference to them as long as you have an entry ticket. Surely they have based the P&R capacity on the number of tickets?

I never used the park and ride last year, we got ushered into a field, cant remember what it was called, i will check on a map in a bit, we parked in the field and walked across a few field to get to the track. was about a 30 walk and we went past a lot of cars where people had been camping out and lots of the green mobile toilets etc.

No i had no car park pass at all, on the saturday i parked in the field to the left of the roundabout in this picture:

This was good as it was very close to an entrance on Club coner.

On sunday parked in a couple of fields which are in this picture:

Basically we were told to follow the little track which runs alongside the road, followed this track to the right and then parked in a field. We then walked along the field passed the campsite to the track. Also if you move the map up it will show you where the road is in proportion to the track, its called dartford road

my boss is coming along on friday morning, hopefully he can find somewhere close to the track to dump his car so i can quickly come out and pick him up and take him in, as i will have a car pass... maybe i'll just get him to try and stick it in one of the nearby camping fields as i'm guessing those carparks on either side of the entrance will be off limits?

yep they'll be tons of parking wombles around to stop you.

There is no need for a pass on the Friday, your boss will be able to park in the general car parks at the circuit. A pass is only required for Sunday.

Here is the official information we received this eveining from Silverstone in relation to parking

"The Public Car Parks are open to everyone on the Friday and Saturday. However on Sunday all vehicles need to have a Public Car Parking Pass clearly displayed in their windscreen. If cars are parked in Public Car Parks on the Sunday without a car pass a fine of £60.00 will be imposed."

I know that as usual in past years this year they willl be closing a43 leading into silverstone.

is somekind of diversion inplace? coming from London and a little worried.

ok thanks for that - coming in today, they seemed to be letting a fair few people through but i assumed that they would tighten it up on the friday...

I have Sunday tickets (Luffield B) but my 'Public Car Park' sticker does not have a day specified on it or say where it is, it just says 'Event 2008'.

Does anybody know where public parking will be and how long it will take to walk from wherever it is to Luffield?

Just drive straight up to the circuit, it's normally on the fields to the right of the main entrance. Wouldn't expect it to be any more than a 5 min walk.
