but vettel is probably a better bet for the team, especially if they keep the experienced webber to go alongside (and if they don't put him in the a-team he'll probably walk away from the red bull group)
i don't see why he wouldn't want to last out the season tho, some are saying he'll quit after silverstone!?
edit: announcement has now been made - he'll retire at the end of the season. should make the bbc coverage a *lot* better with him on board if he decides to do that

Exactly what I was thinking, but would he do the pit lane walk as Brundle or commentary instead of Mr Alan.
DC has been a great charecture and I think it will be a shame when he has gone from F1, Not many drivers speak their mind today for fear of upsetting sponsors etc and that is what I liked about DC he did not mind what he said even the odd f word.
Hope he stays in motor racing but would be good to see him commentating as well.

With his record of crashing recently would he really be good LM material?Whatever he's got a great manager behind him so will make the most out of whatever drive he gets.
Bon Voyage DC - he deserved every drive he was given and was never really left in the shade by a team-mate, he speaks his mind and doesn't take himself too seriously. Oh and he kept the pitlane well stocked with totty over the years

When he turned up at Monaco in a McLaren SLR for promo, Heidi Klum got out of the drivers side, she was driving. DC had her out for the night, he had a kilt on.

I'm not at all sure DC will want to race in sportscars. I'd love to see him involved in commentating though. An articulate, unfailingly polite, considerate and very amusing guy and as such, RBR would be crazy not to use him in an ambassadorial role - which is what I think will happen.

Coulthard has had a lengthly and successful career, has made a fortune and has been lucky enough to not have been seriously injured. He's also been a terrific ambassador for the UK as an F1 driver. Retiring from F1 now is still the correct decision I feel. He was seriously quick and very consistant, but ultimately always missing that last ¼ second which separates the bloody quick drivers from the F1 World Champions.But why is it that people instantly assume he should drop down into LMP1? Why do people assume that he will be as successful there as in F1? Why would anyone assume that Allan McNish would prefer to drive with Coulthard compared with the extraordinarily talented Kristensen & Capello? Just one look at Jacques Villeneuve (F1 World Champ) ultimate lack of pace in the superior 908 compared to his team mates should remind you that a history in F1 is no guarantee of success in sportscars.
But enough of that - DC I applaud you
