Buying tickets for Spa Gran Prix

I'm after some 3-Day general admission tickets for the Belgian GP at Spa this year - any advice on the best place to buy them? Seems to be a bit of difference in price depending on where you look online (formula1.com - £143.11 each, spafrancorchamps.be - £133.30 each (incl. fees), granprix-tickets.com - £137.83 each (incl. fees)).

I presume these are all reputable outlets - anyone have any other recommendations where to buy or are those the main places to get tickets from?

I bought mine direct from the spa francorchamps website. Cuts out any risk of the middleman getting something wrong and means nobody is adding their cut.

Tickets are only dispatched a few days before the race so I'd recommend going direct. Last year I went via Page and Moy and they didn't get them until the day before we got there.

In 2005 they wouldn't mail them to the UK but it sounds like that has changed.

Take lots of loose change as you'll need it for the toilets. Taking your own bog roll will save you a few euros too.

If you've never been before you won't believe how steep Eau Rogue is.

Have a great time.

Do you mean at a campsite? I didn't pay at all for loos at the circuit last year, they we just portaloos, so not fantastic, but you can't expect clean loos at a circuit. One tip would be take some of that hand sanitiser gel (you can get packs for under a £1 at boots etc) as the water quickly runs out it's not nice to get germs on your chips and mayonnaise!!

No, I mean at the circuit. We were at the Eau Rouge grandstand and there was a charge for using the loos behind there.

Ive always bought mine direct from the circuit (3 times). Allways keep me up to date via e-mail and never had a problem with them arriving. No intermediats fees so cheapest you can get.

New poster here, have been lurking for ages though (my bad!)

Hopefully some of you guys will be able to help with a couple questions on the Spa GP.

Im trying to tie it in with a Ring trip. My brother a I will be towing our Mk2 Jetta over there. and hoping to catch the GP on the return.

First question, if we are camping will the campsite be okay for the trailer space-wise and ok to leave uncovered?

Finally I have to go back to work monday :-( Is getting out ok? and what time ferry can be booked to return on?

Official campsites are pretty cramped for space and you may well be frowned upon for camping with the trailer. You might find a local farmer who will be more accomodating.

As for leaving Spa Sunday and getting back to work Monday morning. No chance unless your a fan of night time driving. Last time we did it I thought we would just find a hotel in Calais and get back over to the UK on Monday morning. Took us like 3 hours even to leave the circuit so your talking 7pm before you start back to Calais we got to our hotel at 10pm after covering some rediculous mileage in very short time (its a fair old trek) and your towing your track car!.

Ah not what I was hoping to hear but not all that suprising. I camped at french gp and that what got me thing about the trailer as they didnt give you much space. What are the chances of finding a farmer type campsite then?

We can turn up on thursday and people just seem to suggest turning up to a place that looks good on the day.

I dont mind driving back through the night as this really is my only chance to catch a gp this year.

Would you be allowed to take bikes around on friday practice to cover more ground checking out good viewing spots?

We are considering going to europe for a GP next year was wondering what would be best,to drive to spa or fly been looking on sites for cheap flights to liege ,but not many destinations seem to fly to liege.Camping seems fairly cheap too.

Liege is mainly a freight terminal (It's TNT's european hub) Mr Pitstop works there and rents a flat just outside, so I have free accomodation for Spa!!! You're best bet is to fly into Brussels (or Eurostar) and get a taxi or bus up to Spa. If he has any other tips I'll let you know.

I'm off here this year and as some of you have been I may get some answers.

I am struggling to find/book a campsite for the Saturday and maybe Sunday nights, any suggestions or will arrive and camp be available?

Also looking at the map on the circuits website the entrances to car parks look a long way from each other. Does it make a huge difference where you park if you want to explore the circuit?

I've been to Spa a few times and I'll be going again this year (then road tripping to Italy for the Monza GP) there's LOADS of space at the camp sites next to the circuit mainly as they're just farmers fields converted for the weekend. You'll see huge tents, trailers, 18 wheel lorries and all sorts of other weird cars/vans/trucks and tents using the camp site so I wouldn't worry about space. In 2005 things were much busier than 2007 but you'd still have had enough space to fit in even the biggest of trailers.

IMO Bronze tickets are fine for Spa so long as you're prepared to get up early on Sunday for some of the best spots, I could also recommend some areas to view from so you get a good weekend experience from differnt parts of the track. If you've never done it before then it's difficult to get right first time, especially on race day!
Make sure you get down to visit the F1 Village area near Eau Rouge after Saturday qualifying as its good to see the cars up close and the F1 pit babes!

In the past I've used Just Tickets.com who are offering Bronze at £122 although there's a £20 booking fee, they turned up about 3 weeks before the race last year.

Getting out of the place on Sunday night is difficult as its very busy, most fans do leave on the Sunday so expect a bit of a queue to get your vehicle off the camp site. Since the camp sites have basic toilets (port-a-loo's) and as far as I recall no shower facilities I've always found better deals elsewhere. Visiting the tourist info office in the centre of Malmedy is well worth it as you could end staying in some Belgian's house right next to the circuit for not much more than camping. They're English isn't great so a basic knowledge of French is useful but just make sure you ask if its close to the circuit as walking/driving from Malmedy each day would be a ROYAL pain in the ass where as a 10/20 minute walk to the circuit to avoid parking fees and traffic is perfect.
I always like to stay over on Sunday too that way I can have plenty to drink while enjoying the race and the atmoshphere!
