You'd be thinking they were bidding for the British GP if Donington doesn't make itwink

Latest plan

Couldn't find anything else searching on here about it, but that above is the latest design, an infield loop (below) was the previous now rejected layout.

Prefer the lower version, if only because it would make the speeds on the start/finish straight completely insane - which could well be why it was rejected...

The infield sections looks horribly twisty. I like the changes to Sear though.

Looks pretty good to me. One of my favourite circuits to spectate from so I'm pleased to see it's not going to be 'Tilke'd'...

Only reservation is that there doesn't appear to be much run-off at the left-handed hairpin behind Tyrrells. Wouldn't take too much for a barrel-rolling FFord to end up on Revett Straight, unless they go for massive fences everywhere, which would be a shame (although understandable at that corner!).

5 years seems like a realistic timescale too, unlike 2...wink

Needs a link between the infield and Revetts straight otherwise the track is too long.

Says on the website to bring it up to FIA cat2 standard to host international series like LMS, anything except F1.

I wondered the same thing but it seems that it is to bring it up to 'International' standard length.

I presume having two tracks that can be run independently will make it potentially more profitable too.

Because its one of the most boring tracks in the UK!

One for the school to use full time and one to hire out for testing and development work.

It would also mean that the school could run at weekends.

Not that you would expect JP to have thought that far...

It wasn't that bad before to watch from and that's changing for the better all the time as well.

I can't talk about racing on it but anyone who says Coram is boring obviously isn't going round it fast enough.

I'd be happier if they put some sodding grandstands back up!

Why not? He's bought these tracks back into a profitable business. Kept them from becoming housing developments, even.

Nice to see some improvements, Snetterton seems to have quite a lot plans in the pipeline, looking forward to it.

Sear needed a revamp, although it looks like the new section will restrict maximum speeds on Revett?

Did a track day at snet yesterday and it still remains as one of my favourite circuits!!

With little problems with noise, the new A11 link through Elveden, the fact that many teams have begun to base themselves there already i think the future is exciting!

With a longer track, better run off and some gravel traps or tarmac run off snetterton could well become a european hot spot for racing!

I don't think it will, looks to be a flat left kink after so the lenght of the straight should be the same and the exit speed from Sears should too I'd have thought.

I just noticed as well, the new Sears is actually the old Sears, before they hacked Snetterton apart in the 1970's. They used to turn left after sears and go up the Norwich Straight, which is still there as well, just underneath a Sunday market most weekends and the return Home Straight is the bumpy potholed runway you might have driven down in the past to get into the circuit.

Top pick look great - I like coners and braking. More of these in %age terms compared to straights in the overall length woul make for a better overall track.

Sorry, I thought the extra ... made it clear that he obviously will have thought that far. Unlike some in the business JP has a very good head for making the figures work. I would have thought that Snet was ripe for a school given that Rockingham, Silverstone and Brands are all at least 2 - 2.5 hours drive away. That said will the catchment area be big enough to justify a full time school? I don't doubt that JP has had the figures worked out for him but without access to those i wouldn't like to guess which way he'll jump.
