Thought it was a a good day but a shame the main events were over so soon into the day. Sort of fizzled out afterwards although it was great to see a modern F1 car blast round the circuit.

I assume the track record was smashed!

Yeah I was there! Had an awesome day! You're right, seeing Andy Priaulx thrashing the Sauber about was amazing. Especially doing donuts right in front of where I was standing. I think I heard the commentator say he "unofficially" broke the lap record... I may be wrong

We did a grid walk before race 1.

Lovely weather, but the racing was a bit disappointing IMO. This year's WTCC seems to be a bit of an uneven playing field - If you find yourself stuck behind a SEAT then you're basically screwed and I didn't see an awful lot of overtaking.

Of course, it wasn't a procession akin to a modern F1 race, but I was expecting a bit more wheel-to-wheel. Priaulx had a good go in race 1 but was never going to get past, yes you guessed it, a SEAT.

I did spot 3 cars abreast (one of which being Huff?) into Clearways, then Paddock Hill, then Druids though

Did the off before the F1 car demo - wasn't going to hang around for another 2-odd hours to see that.

I loved the 1960's cars but still don't know why the guy baled out of the number 60 E type and ran away causing the race to finish early.

Similar odd thing in the Seat race. Car came into Clearways having obviously tangled with another. Limped along to the left of the circuit at the back of the field. Got to the pit lane entrance on the right - which he could have easily and safely scooted across the track into but instead, drove at about 10mph into the gravel.

E-Type No. 60 race 1 reason for spinning was O/S/R puncture.The tyre was damaged at the center of the tyre tread, ripped open to canvas all the way around the tyre possibly caused by debris on the track from previous incidents during the weekend.
When the car spun the engine stalled, wouldn't restart straight away.
Driver said he didn't want to hang around in their to wait for it to start considering the cars position and headed for safety.

Thanks for that - Having done a little banger racing years ago I know what it is like sitting in a stalled car waiting for the inevitable crunch.

Glad the e type came away unscathed.

given that the first swinging 60's race was the second session of the day - after the WTCC warm up, I would say debris on track was not the most likely cause. Possibly excessive use of the kerbs?

Thommo started Race 2 with Gene? losing it directly in front of him, any rub or push appeared unintentional.
