Dragons Den- Now - Will he get the money?

No businessman or woman would invest money in that way and expect a return. Its essentially saying "give us money to go racing" and we'll give you 40% of our future earnings (which is non-existent!)... Not exactly a shrewd investment!!
Talking of which, I wonder if anyone has seen a return in Justin Wilson (Plc!)?

Slightly different situation with Wilson, he was a proven entity and already had offers to race professionally in the US. IMHO he was given the wrong advice by Palmer who retained % of future earnings regardless of him making it in F1. At the point he made the deal he was already pretty much guaranteed to earn a decent living from racing, if not in the UK then certainly in the US which is where he ended up 12mths later. Earning £50k until the £2.5m IIRC was repaid, and earning Palmer many millions in the process.Talking of which, I wonder if anyone has seen a return in Justin Wilson (Plc!)?
Sure he got a crack at F1 but with crap teams and little opportunity. IMHO he should have earned his chance by proving himself in the US where he was offered a front running champ car drive and then made his move to F1 on his own terms.
Shame as I really rated him.
It was quite an out of the box way of acquiring a sponsor i'll give him that.
In the grand scheme of things he was an absolute nobody and he was talking like he was going to be the next Senna. Formula Ford at 18, in this day and age he needs to be winning races in Formula Renault and possibly entering F3 at 18.
Even the drivers with incredible talent such as Romain Grosjean, Gio Pantano, Seb Buemi and Olly Jarvis will find it hard to make F1, and he was talking about it like it was a full gone conclusion!!
The Mike Conway's, Oli Oakes' and Oliver Turvey's of this world are all still absolute nobody's who havent got a chance at F1, yet have still won a load more than this guy!!
Did make me smile though!

It's a clever idea. Not only did those guys get almost 10 minutes free advertising on BBC1, but they also got 30 minutes free advertising on R5 live later on last night. Not only that but I'd imagine Dragon's Den brings in amongst the best demographics for well off sponsors/decision makers.
I don't forsee finding good sponsors will be that hard now. Clever boys
The downside of course now is that they've already named the price of owning the boy's soul (well 40% of it) for the next 10 years

You know the %age of club/ young drivers in the UK with genuine sponsorship deals (Excluding Daddy and his mates)?

I was going to say, if he's got any cash from sponsorship he's in a better position that 99% of other drivers out there!
I was once told by Dave Bartrum of Motorbase that the number of british drivers that are actually being paid to drive by their teams is less than 10. And thats all ages, all forms of car racing.

Having just watched this....
His biggest let down was his dad, he was very aggressive with his discussion with the Dragons.
Its a shame, but their marketing was hopeless. They made very little play on the prospects of using the car for displays, advertising, shows etc and more focused on the potential of getting him to F1.
Im sure there are many people on here that aspire to getting to F1....but the reality is that there are 20 drivers there at the moment, and of which 4 are from the UK.
Still what did he have to lose? At least he tried, and he's got his name out there....maybe someone with a car will give him a chance, as there are a lot of companies almost trying to prove the Dragons wrong.
