2009 power to weight ratios
Discussion
Just seen the Britcar site and the 2009 power to weight figures have been posted.
Does no one read what`s written, think about it before posting, or understand the basic principals ?
Ignoring the complicated series of imaginary weights and power figures all you need to know are the kg/bhp figures & here goes :
Class 3 - 3.7kg per singe bhp
Class 2 - 2.7kg per single bhp
Class 1 - 2.6kg per single bhp
A 1200kg (plus imaginary driver @ 90kgs is thus allowed :
372bhp at the wheels in class 3.
514bhp at the wheels in class 2
534bhp at the wheels in class 1
Hmmm.......
Come on guys, if you want to maintain any degree of credibility you need to at least get things to a back of the fag packet state of readiness before posting them on your website. You`re asking teams to trust £100,000 budgets to your regulations and technical understanding. In some cases more than £100k.
On a slightly different note why do Britcar see the need to single out the Moslers (and in our case the 997 model GT3 cup car this year) for special treatment. Surely if a car complies to the basic power to weight regs it races in that class. When you are catering for such a diverse range of cars you simply can not make allowances for individual vehicles.
Keep it simple (power to weight at the wheels ratio is fine). Check cars regularly. Police with an iron rod. That`s all I see you need to do.
As ever, keep smiling.

Exactly. I guess we'll have to go and do DSC next year then because if someone appears with a Ford GT GT3 and runs it to the fullest extent of the rules we won't see which way it went. Or a Saleen, or a GT1 Corvette, or a DTM car - all of which are legal for Britcar.Edit: Oh and as a complete aside, can whoever updates the EERC website please, please learn to spell and punctuate! It really isn't that hard to check things for typos before posting them - and it looks terribly amateur when such glaring errors are included. I cringed when I read the snippet about Dieter Quester as they've even managed to spell the poor bloke's name wrong...

So basically the exising class 2 becomes the new class 3, the existing class 1 is the new class 2 and there is a new class 1, mmmh, so pretty much the same as this year but with a slight break to the really powerful cars, for the life of me I can't see how that addresses the issues previously raised for those in the current class 1 that are struggling for if all the current class 1 cars are legal for their class (i'm not saying they're not) then they should all slot into the new class 2 next year, therefore same cars and same problem

All the moans re-Mosler etc:
I will split the big cars from the existing class one, into a new class one and class 3 stays the same, all the small BM'S and Honda's will race in a different race. This is just cleaning up the existing class2 and making the classes more compatible.
The cars will be hp-weight/tyres and fuel compatible, once I have done this, I can say I am infront of the BGt's re-standard's of control. Prices will be kept down to a sensible level, at good circuits with different races to any other club, run by me and my own team, and a club that look's after the customer.
It is now time for the customers to promote to new teams, so we at Britcar can beat the squeeze....
