Been looking into racing for a while (Sprints/Hillclimbs) and took a look through the classifieds to see what I could come up with to see what amount of money I would need.

I have foudn a 205GTi and a trailer, opinions please -

It all depends on what series you intend to run in and the level of modifications allowed.

It was just sprints and hillclimbs at the moment, possibly look at other things later on.

given you are in scotland are you going to be travelling the length and breadth of the country or just looking for a loclaish championship. plenty of championships based around Knockhill with the occasional foray ito anglesey or croft for variety. have a look at the Scottish XR2s, legneds, FFords or the sports and saloon championships. have a look here to see what sort of cars people are running http://www.mylaps.com/results/showevent.jsp?id=324... loads of info here too http://www.smrc-uk.com
the 205 looks good but resale would be difficult with that engine set up as its not going to fit into many other championships bar speed and hillclimbs. personally for that sort of money i would look at the XR2s as they seem to have big grids and it would be a lot of fun for a novice.
there must be loads around from the stock hatch championship....
